\"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (11/9 50/100 NL Whale Night)
 

Tonight's show is scheduled to be what is the usual game on Wednesday nights, 50/100 NL with a $5k max buyin. After a player goes broke after their 2nd buyin, players are allowed to go up to 10k, and it moves up up from there if they keep going break. Tonight's lineup has its usual share of name pros (Yosh Nakano), business person types like Ed Shasarian, Ken Berg, and Frank Mariani and semi-pro types who love to gamble (Avo, Vic and Barry W). For those that care to watch, you can head over to www.liveatthebike.com running from 6-9pm PT (sometimes it actually starts when scheduled). Also, you can watch thru your Windows Media Player/Real Player by clicking on this link: http://216.53.204.10/bike/bike_300.asx This game usually has plenty of play that should spark discussion, and wonder how someone can actually make that play. I'm putting the thread in this forum at least for today, if people get annoyed by the thread or really don't care to see this thread, let me know and I'll disappear off to the usual place this thread is started.

None that I know of, but they may be starting late. This does happen sometimes on the show, and they're not aware of it.

I'm hoping for the smidgen of idiocy to be mixed in with the poker discussion idea to work. I also hope for a show that actually starts on time, but I guess one can't be too choosy.

What's your opinion on raising for information? You hear of betting for information in NL, but is raising just for information ever a correct play...or should you only raise to knock someone out or get more $$ in the pot?

I hate to mention Hellmuth, but I remember him saying on a hand example on his website "don't call, raise" JJ with a say K38 board. DOn't know if he was talking about no limit, but maybe that is an example of raising for info/getting opponent to lay down better hand. thoughts???

Ed raised it to 500 in the BB with K,9 spades. Barry called with 4,4. Flop = 247 (2 spades). Ed bets 500. Barry raises to 2500 total. Ed calls. Turn = A hearts. Ed checks, Barry bets 3000. Ed calls. River = 5spade. Ed goes all in for about 7-8k. Barry calls.

It runs every wednesday and it's not a private game to my knowledge but you may not be guarenteed a seat.

They do a board for this game, so anyone who's got the $ can sign up. This is usually a special game only done during L@TB hours Wednesdays, since most of the players play 300/600 or 400/800 limit.
