BB checks, I bet 335, David Grey min raises to 670, BB folds, I call

i dont know this guy but i dont like calling the flop, id probably reraise or fold, unless he gives up on the turn after trying to bluff steal a flop.

Re: Two hands vs David Grey 25/50 nl

what do you reraise to and what are your plans if he calls? he could easily call with like 76 or 77-TT on flop right?

Re: Two hands vs David Grey 25/50 nl

I hate how u played the JJ hand, mainly because its david grey. I would consider folding the miniraisee and would definitely fold to the turn bet. He's about as str8forward as it gets, when u get action your usually not gonna like it

Re: Two hands vs David Grey 25/50 nl

noob question: can we take any info from the fact that DG bet full pot on the turn in hand 1 instead of betting 1/2 or 2/3 pot (or a-i), or does everybody just pot bet here?

Wow, DGrey cold-calls pfr, raises flop, pots turn and you think JJ is good? Hope it worked out for you, he's pretty damn ABC poker player.

What do you think he had when you c/r turn?

My question is this: can DG call with an overpair there? What else could he have that can call there from everyone's description (well, 55; 66 seems a little out of character on the flop, but is possible I suppose). (Can he cold call preflop with A4/34/45s? If so, this is a very dangerous spot, if not, it all comes down to what he will call an unknown(?) with here.)

Edit: just to be clear, you are trying to represent 44/55/66 here ZEEbo and push him off of QQ-AA?

Key points - pots the turn, min raises the flop. If your CR all in is shutting him down, I only see it shutting down 67. To minraise with 67, then pot the turn when you pick up a pair doesn't seem like world class play...... soooooo

he is calling with AA-QQ. No?

Why the push? Do you think he was f'ing around? Is he going to muck QQ? Might repop you PF with QQ, might not, I really have no idea.

Well at least you get to see what he had

I think this hand evolved from your
- SB open + follow through
- check call on the turn + King/overcard on the river........

check calling with the king is easy, but check calling with 99 requires something that is not present in OP.

Najdorf and Smiley -

Have you observed David Grey's play in cash games? How many hours have you watched him play exclusively cash?

....

Ok, that's what I thought.

If anyone plays by the book, David Grey does. He plays with good starting hands and generally plays them to the river.

This is from a
good source.

So I think it's an ok assumption that he plays solid and ABC.

Re: Two hands vs David Grey 25/50 nl

That is how he plays relative to the rest of the players who play in those games.

I've played with him live and found that he was not as "straightforward" as we have been lead to believe through TV and other pros comments.

How he plays against some unknown donk on the internet is probably also different.

Hand 1 sucks, you aren't bluffing any better hands and you are going to be behind almost everytime you get called.

AZK 11-08-2005 06:42 PM

Re: Two hands vs David Grey 25/50 nl

sorry by observe I imply watched extensively from the rail and/or played with. I already got several nice PMs from John Smiley challenging me to 50/100 HU duels because I was being "a dick". You want to join the party?

Re: Two hands vs David Grey 25/50 nl

Hand 1 was for value....do all of you guys just muck AA on the turn then? My logic was why would he bet full pot with a lock of a hand, wouldn't 2/3~3/4 pot followed by 2/3 pot ~ about allin be more optimal or something like that.

Hand 2: my thinking was flop "call any draw any T probably repops up an 8 might slowplay TTT or T8 not sure" turn 8 he underbets this bet looks like please lay down any hand that isn't a pair, river: this looks like please fold or I have KT

Just curious, is this based on your play against him or based on reading on Barry G or whoever's site that DG is ABC?

If it is based on you playing him, have you played him on FT?

As lapoker said, and i asked in my q's to the other posters, how a pro plays in a 4k/8k game and how he plays on FT is often very, very different.

For example, many of you guys would have a very different opinion of Phil Ivey if you based your image of him on how he plays 50/100NL on FT.
