Dog or 3rd child? And if dog, what breed?

I have been trying to convince my wife to get a family dog. She says that if we do, we have to stop with the 2 children we have (ages 5 and 2) and get a vasectomy. Even so I am having a hard time convincing her its a good idea. She thinks they are too much work. (like kids aren't!)

I am thinking that if I introduce her to some cute puppies she'll have a change of heart. It would have to be a medium sized dog thats good with kids.

Which would you rather have, kid or dog?

Anyone got a plan for how to convince her to get the dog?

What breed of dog would you all recommend?

Just how brutal is getting a vasectomy, anyway?

cute pic

Dressing up the third child as a dog is an option. I don't think it reallly solves the problem, though.

My mom has said on my occasions:

"If I knew how easy dogs were twenty years ago, I would have had two dogs and one kid." (Instead of the other way around).

She is only half kidding.

Seriously, get a dog. I recommend the West Highland Terrier.

Clearly the correct play is to get the dog, pretend to have a vasectomy, and then have her pump out another kid.

Alternatively, you could have the 3rd kid first, bring home the dog, and then threaten to tell the kids it was mommy's fault their new puppy had to leave if she says no.

Shes a lawyer, she'll try and sue the doctor for medical malpractice.

I could try the surprise! I brought a dog home trick, but then I think she'll withhold sex for a long time. So then I'm choosing between the dog and sex.

I think you should get a dog. Labradors are awesome.

I know nothing about wives or vasectomies.

australian sheperds and border collies are absolutely amazing and brilliant animals, but you'll want a lot of energy/space. i've lived with a mutt border collie and it was amazing. gf used to be a vet tech and she's seen every kind there is, likes aussies best.

OK, a dog is more work than a kid. A kid eventually learns how to clean up after itself, feed itself, and generally take care of itself. A dog never does. Plus the older kids tend to look after a little brother or sister a lot better than a dog.

Vasectomy hurts, but once it is done, it is very +EV on the sex life. I actually played in a poker tornament the same day I had a vasectomy. Sat on a bag of pees, but the pain killers, messed me up, and I made some terrible plays.

The aftermath doesn't scare me on the vasecotomy, but the process does.

Kids are really expensive in the long-run, though. A dog has to be +EV.

Frisbee? I have no idea. They will play catch though.

Smart? Yes.

So not true. Since we housetrained him, which was very easy, my dog has gone five years w/o going in the house a single time.

Get a dog from the pound. Both my dogs were about a year old and were already house broken and did very little chewing or destruction that puppies can do.

Mutts live longer, have less diseases and usually better temperments. I recommend a mutt with some lab or shepard it.

Both my dogs are amazing around kids. One is a shepard/lab/chow/pit mix and the other is a hound dog.

Vasectomys aren't so bad after the swelling goes down. Unless you get This .

I can't imagine throwing a frisbee at a dog that small would be a good idea.

get the dog, then ask the vet if you get a discount if he neuters you and the dog at the same time. For breed, get a well-bred basset hound, they are lazy as [censored].

The symptoms of epididymitis include:

A sensation of heaviness in the affected testicle
Enlargement of the testicle

Go for the dog. I had a bichon frise growing up, loved him dearly, and have another one now that's way too smart for his own good, but love him dearly all the same...

Don't do anything silly like have his hair cut to breed standard. Get him a puppy cut, and he'll look adorable, as opposed to looking like a giant poof ball.

The Border Collie is so much more +EV. Here was mine:

Best dog ever. Kids obviously rock also, but you already have two of those. After the boss sees how much fun and easy it is to have the dog, then the third yapper will come.
