AK, easy call?
Near the bubble of a 180 seat 20+2 on PS. Villain has been playing fairly solid. My guess is that he's more likely raising with QQ or JJ (maybe AK or AQ), but should I take that chance? I'm more interested in final table than cashing... and I'm about 22 of 25 right now.

Re: AK, easy call?
You're shortstacked, likely a coin flip with decent odds. Easy push.

Re: AK, easy call?
If he limped from UTG, would that be suspicious of AA or KK?

Re: AK, easy call?
AKo is just too good of a hand to throw away here. Get all your money in.

Re: AK, easy call?
A little tip, not trying to be an ass. Anytime you have 6x the BB and see AK, barring any insane circumstances like a satellite or multiple raises in front of you, get it all in and be happy with yourself.

Re: AK, easy call?
I was happy to finally have AK... though this was one of those times I had a gut feeling he had AA or KK. It's easier to have that feeling in live play, but online I've sensed it a few times. Should I go against my "gut feeling", or fold it? Folding looks to weak to me since I'm shortstacked.
Anyway... he did have KK, and it held up. |

Re: AK, easy call?
Lloyd, my question in that post was "if"... in case you didn't read!

Re: AK, easy call?
It's a moo point. Push. Nuff said.
|
Re: AK, easy call?
If you have an A and a K in your hand your "gut" is almost always wrong that villan has AA or KK. In this circumstance, given your stack size, pushing is a no brainer.

Re: AK, easy call?
Yea this is an easy push. I wouldn't hesitate. Too many times you are up against medium pair or AQ/AJ here and the coinflip over a medium pair would be somewhat of a dream in this situation. Doubling up to 8000 here would be nice and you are almost guaranteed to make ITM.

Re: AK, easy call?
Think about it this way: with 6x left, are you going to be dealt a better hand than AK in the next 20 hands?
The answer is no. Push. You were still 30% to win the hand...could have been worse. |
Re: AK, easy call?
You guys all confirm how I was thinking. At the time I thought it was an easy push to try and double up. From the way villain was playing, I was pretty sure that he'd only make the 3xBB raise UTG with KK/AA... any less and I thought he would push instead, not looking for a caller. I was getting so shortstacked that I just couldn't get away from it, even though I was 95% sure he had the goods.
