What is your 6-max vpip/pfr?

What is your 6-max vpip/pfr, what site what limit, and are you happy with your stats?

Re: What is your 6-max vpip/pfr?

.5/1 30/20 over ~8k hands
1/2 28-27/16-15 ~20k hands

All on Party with bloated winrates. Something like 25/18 would dominate micro shorthanded games IMO

23/19 is the vpip/pfr that I have with the most hands; it is at 3/6 short. I am unhappy with those stats. My vpip should be several points higher.

rounded up it's around 29/19.

I'm pretty content with it for the limit I play.

PokerStars

2/4 - 27.78/18.06 - 20k hands
3/6 - 26.16/18.52- 12k hands
5/10 - 26.01/19.32 - 2k hands

Happy yes, been trying to lower it for a while and I think it's about right now.

wow, my pfr is through the roof hah

2/4 (current limit) 750 hands - 31.75/23.4
1/2 6000 hands - 28.4/22.3

2/4 winrate (which is meaningless I know), is 3.5
1/2 winrate (which is almost as meaningless) is 2.25

Is a PFR this high playable? Or have I just been a luckbox for ~7000 hands?

just don't go too far. too tight is better than too loose. adding hands is easy. folding instead of calling/raising marginal +EV hands before the flop does not amount to as much as playing -EV hands does after the flop.

in my experience, it really really depends on your table. in general, no, i don't think you'll be playing optimally 6-handed with those stats.

well I'm 22/16 - the lowest out of everyone here

I'm very liberal stealing (not as much defending) - and I feel comfortable where I'm at right now - other than my turn aggression

how often are you stealing blinds? what are your fsb and fbb to steal numbers?

and what's your vpip on the button? in the SB?

I play $1-2 5-max at Paradise. Since I started in June, I'm running 30/19 over 5000 hands, with a sample size impaired 4.5 BB/100.

Stats are meh. The game styles shift so much that I don't think they are good measures of your play.

In terms of my play, I'm probably a little too liberal from the small blind, I pay off a little too much on the river, and I tend to be a little aggro.

It's just like full ring guys, this comes with time. Just hang in there and learn, you'll eventually open up without even knowing it.

FYI a good portion of the high VPIP comes from some pre-flop limping in favorable situations that you might not be comfortable with right now.

thesharpie 11-04-2005 04:05 AM

Re: What is your 6-max vpip/pfr?

Around 23.9/17.2 over 19k hands from .5/1 to 2/4.

At 2/4 over 6k hands I'm 23.2/17.2.

I think the VP$IP could be a couple points higher and the PFR% maybe 1, or 2.

Thats a part of my game that im working on a lot. Finding the loose passive tables which is allowing me to limp on the button after a few limpers.

Re: What is your 6-max vpip/pfr?

23/15. I think the reason I dont have higher stats is that Im not isolating enough with marginal hands like 109s. Also Im not defending my blinds as often as most people since I find very few people with high enough pfr that a steal is probable. FYI I defend BB at 64%(60% HU) and sb at 82%.

Re: What is your 6-max vpip/pfr?

There is something worth commenting on here when talking about the 6-max game.

I have never focused much at all on my pre-flop game, taking the advice of Ed Miller, and many others, to focus on the post-flop play.

My approach has been to find a good preflop chart follow that to a T, and spend my time on the post flop portion of the game.

I think that this may be a poor approach in micro-limit 6-Max. All of the pre-flop charts that I have tried and followed (only 2, but that is all I have ever found) both get me to 21/16 (one from 2+2, and one from another site). I think that this is way too low, and I would like to be around 26/19 or so. I think that a lot of it has to do with playing with too many other 2+2ers at Absolute, where the PFR table averages can be upwards of 20%. So it comes down to cold-calling 2 bets, or 3 betting to isolate. That is tough to do with marginal hands, as EVERY piece of reading I have done does not advocate cold-calling with marginal hands. I often find myself playing at a table of 6 where 2 of the other players are 22/17/3.2 (or similar).

I would be VERY interested to see a preflop chart of someone that is quite a bit looser than me (i.e. 25/18).

When reviewing my stats the position based stats are as they should be (early = 10/10, late 24/16, SB 33/14, etc.) I also Attempt to steal ~35%, Fold SB to Steal ~85%, and Fold BB to Steal ~65%.

Any help here would be appreciated. (if you want to know how I currently play please see this thread: http://archiveserver.twoplustwo.com/...=0#Post1256134 )

Re: What is your 6-max vpip/pfr?

I was going to comment on the stats I had on you, but I figured that in the few hands I had, it was a statistical anomaly. If you really are going to play that many hands, you should be kicking up your PFR more - into the 17-19 range.

After about 9000 hands (I have more on another database but am too stupid/lazy to figure out how to combine them) I'm at 24/19. This is at 1/2,2/4 3/6 at Stars,Prima,Crypto and Absolute combined. I don't think I've ever open limped in 6 max.

Re: What is your 6-max vpip/pfr?

27/19 overall, over several limits (mostly 2/4 6m on Absolute and UB). And yeah, I'm pretty happy with my preflop play, after making some adjustments about halfway through my shorthanded career.

Re: What is your 6-max vpip/pfr?

I'm stuck at 21/15, which are very similar stats to yourself. The link you posted doesn't seem to work, but I have a feeling we're using the same chart.

The way I see it there are three ways to increase my VPIP:

a) Limp more hands

b) Raise more marginal hands like A9o/KTo from UTG.

c) Steal more.

I'm limping all the recommended hands after other limpers, but I refuse to cold-call with them unless there are at least 3-4 of us in the pot, and even then they need to have multi-way strength.

I've avoided raising the marginal hands listed as raise/fold from UTG and MP. I guess I don't want to get caught with my pants down while I'm still learning the post-flop nuances of 6-max.

I don't have my steal stats to hand, but I'm pretty happy with how often I steal. If it's on the chart, I'll steal by default. Against the right opponents I'll steal with more, but I feel like it's got to have SOME high card strength, or suited and connected.

Any suggestions from those that have higher VPIP? How does your approach differ?

You must be using a different chart than me. I don't have a single coldcall hand on my chart and I only have 2 R/F hands UTG.

Re: What is your 6-max vpip/pfr?

Sorry, I was thinking of calling a raise from the SB, which is not strictly cold-calling.

11-04-2005 02:18 PM

Re: What is your 6-max vpip/pfr?

I don't know why but whenever I let my VPIP SB go higher I consider that a major leak (that and going to showdown too often with Marginal hands).

I try to keep my VPIP SB very much under tight control, I like to keep it within 10% of my total VPIP.

I would caution that in my expeience this is something that can get out of control very very fast.

Re: What is your 6-max vpip/pfr?

You may not be isolation raising as often as you could be. Generally when a bad player limps in front of me I will raise with the majority of the hands I would have open raised with.

You also may not be defending your big blind enough.

I'll give that one a go just to see if it makes a difference, but if it hasn't worked for you...

Luckily, I think there is still a lot of value in post-flop play in 6-max games. I think that's keeping me afloat at the moment.
