November Goals

I reached most of my goals this past month (someone should bump the October goals post), but I am going to reach all my goals this month.

So, post your goals for November here.

Mine:

1. Play 15K hands of poker. 5K 3/6, 10K 2/4.

2. Finish reading TOP, since I didnt do it last month.

3. Post/reply more here. I have been slacking there also.

4. Review my poker tracker database of my past months hands. I had a 200BB downswing in there, and although I recovered nicely, I want to make sure I didn't make too many mistakes.

5. Continue to enjoy poker. No tilt.

Re: November Goals

1. Start playing poker again...A nice mix of 1/2, 2/4, 20+2 LHE SnGs, NL25 as well as some NL50. I'm not gonna shoot for a certain amount of hands cause I know I wont reach it...baby steps

2. Become a bonuswhore

3. Finish King Yao's book, and start How Good is Your Limit Hold'em by Jacobs and Brier

4. "Understand" Physics...[censored] confusing stuff

5. AND FINALLY...On Saturday Nov. 19th, watch the Fresno St. Bulldogs derail the two-time defending NCAA National Champions; the USC Trojans

Its unfortunate that I can't make the trip, cause its gonna happen my friend. Hopefully we'll be sitting on an 8-1 record and a ~Top 15 ranking come game time.

Re: November Goals

I didn't do well with my October goals, especially my non-poker goals, but here goes for Novemeber:

1. Finish "Weighing the Odds..." One of my Oct. goals, only three chapters left.
2. Play 3000 6max hands (1/2 - 3/6)
3. Play 6000 hands of poker overall.
4. Finish my thesis.
5. Hit the gym 4+ days per week.

10-31-2005 06:48 PM

Re: November Goals

1. Play 20k+ hands at 2/4 full.
2. Start playing 1/2 short, 5-10k hands.
3. Read all the books I have coming, including HPFAP.
4. Start finding games outside of PP.
5. Keep taking shots at higher levels, including one at 3/6 at the end of the month.

10-31-2005 06:52 PM

Re: November Goals

1. Play at least 10K hands.
2. Post some of my own hands here.
3. Get my grad school apps in good shape.
4. Run well.

10-31-2005 06:55 PM

Re: November Goals

1.) Play enough hands to clear at least the Paradise sign up and a Prima sign up bonus.

2.) stay at .50/1 full

3.) take a shot at .50/1 6max

4.) re-read SSH

5.) respond to two content threads a day in Micro.

6.) Find someone in Pittsburgh to talk poker with, so I don't have to rely entirely on you guys

7.) Pass the MPRE

10-31-2005 07:45 PM

Re: November Goals

1. Play ~25K hands (600 per weeknight, 1500 per weekend day)

2. Move up to 1/2, blow through that (5-tabling)

3. Move up to 2/4, blow through that (5-tabling)

4. Expand my bankroll by ~$2300 in the process

5. Be ready to start 3/6 on December 1.

6. Don't get kicked off 2+2 for the third time.

These are all obviously very lofty goals. I think I can make the 25K hands this month, and I think I can be done with 1/2 by the end but anything beyond that would be a huge bonus for me. Especially since I'm probably going out of town over Thanksgiving.

Good luck everyone!

I actually hit all of my October goals, and I was very happy. I'm not going to post goals for this November, and simply rehash my October's goals to see if I can keep it up for another month.

Go me!

Edit that, didn't get the Tattoos... Gonna go do that tomorrow

1) Play minimum 4k hands, probably .5/1 6max (I'm extremely busy this semester, so this is tough)

3) Build new computer.

4) Continue to work out 6 days/wk.

5) Lose 12 lbs more scale weight.

6) Enjoy Thanksgiving break with my family.

Re: November Goals

1) Grunch to at least 3 posts a day.
2) Read King Yao's book, reread HPFAP, re-re-re-re-re-re-read SSH
3) Have the guts to apply some of the more variance-inducing concepts in the above books
4) Play some live poker when I go to Vegas in two weeks and kick some major ass.
5) Single table at least 1000 hands, making reads and taking detailed notes on my opponents.
6) Review more of my hands, especially hands where I won, but could have probably won more. I think that's a very overlooked leak. I know what SSH says, but it's tough not to "just be happy to win what's already in the pot."

This is my first month doing a "goals post." If telling the whole world about it actually helps me stick to it and accomplish my goals, I will add in non-poker goals next month.

Paxosmotic 11-01-2005 01:57 AM

Re: November Goals

1. 20k hands of any form of poker. I'm out of excuses, time to get to work.

2. Another read of TOP, a complete read of 7CSFAP, and maybe a read of Ray Zee's split book afterwards.

3. Make Pooh-Bah and piss off every forum regular with my Pooh-Bah post.

4. 100 $11 SNGs (counts towards the 20k goal).

5. Shave more time off my 1.5 mile run time. I got lazy when I got back from the desert and clocked myself at 16:30 about a month ago. My most recent time was 14:30. If I can make that 12:30, I'll consider my entire life a success.

Vis a vis October, my goals for November:

Build up my tolerance.
Have more sex. (Read >0).
Hook up more. (Read >3).
Have sex with multiple women. (Read p=0).
Go to class more.
Start doing papers before the night before they are due.
Spend more money on more useless [censored].
Start playing at 5/10 short full time (not play poker full time, but when I do play, play at 5/10 short).

That's all. In no order except that the last one is the least important out of all.

They could win every game from now until then and afterwards, and Fresno State would still not be among the 25 best teams in the nation. I count 9 teams that Fresno State outranks in the AP poll that would beat the Bulldogs. For posterity's sake, those teams are : Michigan, California, Louisville, Colorado, Georgia Tech, Northwestern, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Tennessee. And I would like very much to add Virginia as the 10th team in that list, and perhaps I could if they hadn't blown it against North Carolina, but every team gets one free pass, and we used it against Maryland. Our loss against North Carolina was just inexcusable. Ugh.

I'm recovering from a month hiatus, so I'm trying to work my way back into the game. Lotta changes during the month I was gone... Party split from ... well, Party, and PokerAce went subscription.

1. Buy 2 poker books (haven't decided which, non-tournament books, though, probably ToP + 1 other).
2. Play 200 hands/night.

This will remain my goal through January (2 books/month). I think I'm missing something theoretical-wise about the game and I'm going to the Mount to get the great swami's take on the games.

We are a virus. Back during our run in 99, I lived close to there and my friends and I would always go to Damon's on away game saturdays to watch all the games. It was great, since we (hokies) outnumbered hoos most weekends. Wasn't a strong season for them, though, so that was a big factor.

I've never been much for these goal thingys but what the hell.

1. Beat 1/2 6-max for 4+BB/100 over at least 10K hands

2. Find time to post on 2+2

3. Read King Yao's new book

Re: November Goals

Last month I did my first ever "I'm gonna play 10K hands at the same stakes in a month" goal, and I ended up completing it in 10 days. I just got into a groove, 8-tabling the $0.50/$1.00 on Poker Stars. I ended up +2.48 bb/100.

So, lemme raise the bar for November:

1> Play 30K hands under the same conditions within the calendar month
2> Use Poker Tracker for more than just profitability tracking and stats comparison

By #2 I mean, I need to start making note of stand-out hands and go back and analyze them, maybe post some of them here for input.

1.) 10k hands 2-tabling 5/10 6-max
2.) Continue working my way through MLH
3.) Post more hands, hopefully in Low Limit HUSH
4.) Continue to improve hand reading skills, via detailed hand history analysis
5.) Maybe another shot at party's 3/6 6-max, I still have a much harder time there than at Stars (I'm about breakeven there)
6.) Run good
