Miller/Sklansky - almost done with NL book yet?

I'm really looking forward to the new NL ring book coming out soon. Just wondering what the latest status is. I've been very successful with full & 6-max limit but NL ring just kicks my ass. Damn TPTK just sucks, am desperate for the words of wisdom that'll get me over the hump.

Thx a bunch.. BB

I wish I could forget that this book existed so that I wouldn't keep getting mad every time I think of the delays.

I'm sorry the book has been delayed a few months. I underestimated how much time doing the magazine, getting married, moving, etc. would take, and I haven't had as much time to work on it as I had hoped. Believe me, it's my #1 work priority, and it will be done in a reasonable amount of time.

Don't take it as my being mad at you specifically or anything. I'm sure you want to and are trying to get the book out quickly as well, and that you are unwilling to release it early if you have to sacrifice quality. It's more of a feeling of waiting for Christmas and being mad that it doesn't come faster.

If Ed is reponding to posts like this then I guess the honeymoon really must be over.

Come on Ed, get your priorities right. Your wasting time getting married when there is a poker book to be produced?

Hehe, we went camping for a two day "mini" honeymoon after the wedding. Our full-sized honeymoon will be around Christmastime.

Now I know what 'Mr. NPA' stands for. Been seeing that alot in reference to Ed. Funny stuff.

They should do a Pot-Limit Hold'em book next since many pros are saying that Pot-Limit Hold'em requires more skill than No-Limt Hold'em.

Who plays pot limit holdem though? I think it does take more skill, btw.

Re: Miller/Sklansky - almost done with NL book yet?

Is this NL book exclusively a book on cash games or does it also include stuff on tournament play? Or is it just a NL theory book that can be applied to various things?

Re: Miller/Sklansky - almost done with NL book yet?

Hi Dave:

It's a book on theory. So it will apply to all of the above.

best wishes,
Mason

Thanks Mason,
I keep hearing that it be written by Sklansky and Ed Miller, but I was wondering if you would also be making contributions to this book?

Hi David:

The manuscript is done, I'll go over it and give comments. I will also be the publisher.

best wishes,
Mason

Take your time. You don't want the book looking like some 7th grader wrote it. Well, I guess that never stopped you before.

There isn't much difference. Most things you learn about no limit will normally apply to pot limit. The main differences are pretty obvious.

Hey Ed,

Just how much No Limit have you played in your life? Sklansky also if you know.

Cheap shot. Haven't you read the disclaimers at the beginning of each book? You know, the ones that basically say "we play poker, we not write goodly."

Is there some way we can "sticky" an announcements thread so that the same question doesn't get continually asked over and over again?

I was wondering about this, Mason

I couldn't see the manuscript being done and not having an estimated TOA already for the book.

Any rough estimates? Any chance it will be available before holiday shopping, or should I take it off my list?

11-14-2005 01:24 PM

Re: Miller/Sklansky - almost done with NL book yet?

Not to be a jerk - I have most of the 2+2 books - but is this book necessary? HOH/TOP/HPFAP/SS give me everything I need to play NL cash or tourneys. I can't imagine there is any new concept out there.

Just make +EV plays and you're fine.

Re: Miller/Sklansky - almost done with NL book yet?

do NL player who has been strongly working on ToP will be able to extract more from
this new book? or is it like this new book just increase the informational edge in sb's knowledge

ps. sorry if any english grammar mistakes

I'm afraid you can take it off your list. It won't be ready for a few months.
