Crimson Challenges #1 and #2 : Hot Sauce and Butter
 

Crimson came up w/ a fun idea in this thread.

This thread is to finalize details, raise money, and then post results (video, etc.) of thread.

I accepted Crimson's offer #1: $100 to drink bottle of hot sauce of my choosing

and offer #2: $200 to eat 4 sticks of butter

Time limits - 1 hr

Other food and drink during challenge - allowed

Puking - must not puke for 5 minutes after finishing


Anyone who has any other suggestions re: details/parameters for these bets, please chime in.

Crimson is in Santa Cruz and can do these next week. If any 2+2ers would like to go watch/verify, that would be great, but I trust Crimson. Crimson, please post when would be good for you to do this.

I will see what Safeway has in terms of hot sauce. The 1 million scoville sauce proposed is unreasonable. I am thinking something hotter than Tabasco, but not crazy or dangerous. Something like Dave's Insanity Sauce. I will followup in this thread.

Crimson, I will trust that you don't cheat. You will have to trust my judgement on payment. If you complete the tasks, you get full payment. I will pay you some portion of the amounts if you make what I consider a valiant attempt. If there is any dispute, I will be the final judge regarding payment.

We will put some details in place like "sealed bottle of sauce, opened on video, etc." OOT will contribute feedback as to whether the video was altered, etc (ie: cut and edited so you can dump sauce). Rather than try this nonsense, Crimson, just make your best attempt and I will take care of you fairly.

Here is the current donation tally. The more the better, as I hope we will be able to fund many such challenges if these videos turn out to be as amusing as I believe they will:

Hopefully you have PokerStars, Crimson - that is the easiest place to do these transfers.

That currently leaves $195 that daryn and I will split. Would love to have a bunch of you jump in for $20-30 pledge (for use in this and other challenges). If we get over 15, I will just take the five of us here and the next 10 for $20 each, then roll the pledge list forward to future challenges.

Also, if someone could host the videos, that would be great.

I'm sure I'm missing all sorts of details. If there's anything important, please post. However, I want to keep this as simple as possible, just a gentlemanly fun stunt, not something where Crimson tries to angle or I try to weasel out of payment on a technicality.

My thought is that 5 minutes is not long enough of a "must not puke" limit.

I've puked a lot, and been on the verge of puking, and I bet I could hold it off for 5 minutes, but like say... a half hour, there's no way I could fend off letting go for that long.

i'm curious about other food being allowed. Use 4 butter sticks in some cookies and I could do that no prob in an hour. Or 4 butter sticks melted over popcorn. Or do the stick have to be eaten in cube form and other foods are allowedto be eaten with it? The latter would be fine.

I would like some video action before contributing any cash.

Yeah, see, this is the thing. If Crimson makes a batch of cookies with the four sticks of butter, he will not get paid. We all know what we mean wrt eating four sticks of butter. If he needs something to drink with it, or wants to eat something along with the butter, that's fine by me.

And, according to you, that thread was about something other than the bet...

It might be good to have him get a hotsauce bottle with some sort of seal so you have at least some confidence he's not drinking V8.

Yeah, I didn't really have an opinion one way or the other, it just came to mind.
If this video does come to pass, I expect an animated gif made by Nagoo with a picture of the hot sauce bottle, a picture of the guy puking, and a picture of a maniacal El Diablo laughing. "pwn3d" could possibly be worked in if that is still amusing.

There are plenty of boutique sauce makers that could be a source for something that isn't deadly but, well, excruciating. For something local, you can usually find these at most tourist traps.
As a side note, I think vomiting shouldn't be allowed with this one. Half the fun is yet to come.

Not sure about the hot sauce that should be used for this competition, but this hot sauce [censored] rules as a way to add spice and flavor to your food.

Dave's Insanity seems completely implausible to me. I think you're going to need to go substantially milder than this to make this reasonable.

I can't imagine a more disgusting way to eat butter than to drink it, personally.

What about eating 12 sticks of melted butter by taking it from a beer bong? That would be an intense challenge.

All people have to do is pledge here. Ideally I just want a lot of people saying they will toss in $20 (or more) so we can fund multiple of these challenges.

At the end of the challenge, I will determine how much to pay out. I'll then just go down the pledge list (starting w/ me and daryn) asking people for money until enough is collected. If we have enough people, I'll just ask for $20 per, regardless of pledge. If we don't have enough, daryn and I will make up the difference.

Sounds good. I did 50 because that is the minimum party transfer amount so keep that in mind. It doesn't really matter to me how you do it though

I'll pledge $20. Might I suggest a little something more for the video? Hot sauce burns going down, but it also burns coming out. Anyone who's had a lot of the stuff, forgotten about it, and then taken a [censored] afterwards knows what I'm talking about. Agonizing, yet funny! Crimson might want to leave the camera running outside the bathroom the next morning (or 10 minutes after he eats all that butter) to capture the screams. Please note the outside the bathroom part.

I don't think drinking it would even be that hard. 4 sticks of butter isn't a lot. But eating would mean you'd really have to deal with every bit of the grossness all the way, not chug it down. I bet someone could do four sticks of butter in one gulp and barely taste it.

I think anyone who has much experience with Dave's would agree with this. It was only 10-15 or so years ago that this was about the hottest sauce on the planet.

I have serious doubts as to whether drinking a whole bottle in an hour would be safe. 1 bottle typically lasts me several months. And I have a very high tolerance for hot sauce.
