Like the my best hand program on ESPN
Seems to be interesting, but accessable to a general audience.
Liked Brunson's hand from 1958 where he called Moss' overbet on the river with jack high, reading that Moss had a lower busted straight and the other guy would fold his pair to that much action. Also Arieh's fold of the flush against Murphy and Harrington's check/call of the overbet push with TPNK to win the WSOP. |
Re: Like the my best hand program on ESPN
I wonder if Greg Raymer knows of his tell that Annie Duke says she picked up on.

Re: Like the my best hand program on ESPN
Maybe the tell she was talking about was that after getting re-raised he only re-re-raises with a bigger pair then 10's.

Re: Like the my best hand program on ESPN
I picked up on an incredibly usable tell on Greg Raymer.
When he gets involved in a hand/pot, he takes his glasses from the table and puts them over his eyes. |
Re: Like the my best hand program on ESPN
All of the hands they're using in that series are from 'The Best Hand I Ever Played' by Steve Rosenbloom. It's an excellent read and definately worth picking up.

Re: Like the my best hand program on ESPN
Have I missed something or is it "The best hand I ever played that was filmed by ESPN?"
I'd hate to be the pro that played their best hand on FSN or Travel Channel. |
Re: Like the my best hand program on ESPN
True .. They will only show it if it was on ESPN or never televised at all(i.e.: Brunson's hand).
|
Re: Like the my best hand program on ESPN
I didn't think the hand they showed from that Gavin kid was anything special, he limped on the button, and took down a small pot with nothing when neither of his opponents had top pair, I'm sure he's played better hands with bigger pots.
Arieh's laydown was nice. |
Re: Like the my best hand program on ESPN
I think they should use actors to recreate the hands. For Phil Hellmuth, I want Christoper Walken.

Re: Like the my best hand program on ESPN
I like the program too and it demonstrates more poker knowledge from Chad than I think most people give him credit for having.
It's a weird cross-marketing with the book which I also liked (did a post on it in books/publications). The best hand for Gus Hansen was on the WPT. I'm sure they use any footage that they can. For the Brunson one, there was a dramatic reenactment (which I found a bit dull, but conveyed the point better than just verbalizing what happened). |
Re: Like the my best hand program on ESPN
I think they should pick some random Joe Schmo from the WSOP floor and interview him, it might go something like...
"Dude, after I qualified in a $40 satellite, I was stoked! So, the very first hand I get in the Main Event, I look down and see 74 offsuit. I see a bunch of pros at my table, so I decide to mess with their heads, and I push it all in. Johnny Chan calls me and turns over AA! Then the flop comes with a 7 and a 4, and you should have seen the look on his face! Dude, my best hand ever!" |
