$120: 1 table Sit and Go TAJ
First mistake was buying into this touranment in the first place.
I didn't look at the structure. Players start off with $1000 in chips, blinds start at 25-50. This tournament pays 1 place only. Blinds move every 20 mins. We are at Level 2. I am in the BB with a post of $100 and the SB is to my right with $50. Everyone folds to the button, who has limped in about 3 times in the first level but has never raised, he's an older gentleman who resembles a degenerate gambler, was smoking cigarrettes fiercely outside before the tournament began. The SB is a nice guy, he trys to play good, but he's not that great of a player. the SB and I had a confrontation when he limped from the SB at the 25-50 level I checked with 96o. we were the only two in the hand. Pot $100. The flop came down As 6c 8c. He checked I bet $100 he called my bet. turn was a T. Check. Check. River was a blank, check, check. He turned over Td9c to take it. Well now, everyone folds to the button who thinks for a second and limps. The SB limps. Now there is $300 in the pot. I have ATo. I have $700 behind me. The button has $600 behind him. The SB has about $800 behind him. What is my play? Check to see a flop? Raise an arbitrary amount? Raise all in since my opponents showed weakness by limping and I can put there tournament mortality at stake. |

barring a read on what "thinks for a second and the limps" means I push that.

Re: $120: 1 table Sit and Go TAJ
Especially given the winner-takes-all structure, this seems like a clear push.

Re: $120: 1 table Sit and Go TAJ
I would move all-in here barring some ridiculous read.

Re: $120: 1 table Sit and Go TAJ
I think this push is not as easy a choice in this situation, since these players tend not to fold. If one of them has a small pair, you are playing catch-up. Against a bigger ace your doomed. If one of them limped in with one of the bigger pairs like jacks, you would need to get a miracle board. Againt anything else you are not that far ahead mathematically . If you had more chips in front of you, I would say check and see a flop. Since you had a not that many chips, push would be not that bad, but don't expect a fold.
Before you respond to my answer. Keep in mind that a played in a Sit N' Go at the Taj before, and I won it first shot. |
Re: $120: 1 table Sit and Go TAJ
With winner takes all format, getting a call from a small pair isn't really that bad.

Re: $120: 1 table Sit and Go TAJ
Yeah, I wouldn't really care about a call. Only hands you don't want to see are AK-AJ, for 36 combinations (as you hold one of the aces), and AA-JJ, which have 3 + (3*6) = 21 combinations. 57 out of 1,225 you don't want to see. Hmm, I'll take those odds, thanks. Especially as most of those hands would have raised anyway.
