Albums For The Wall

So I'm finally getting around to decorating my bedroom in my house. I've decided to go with framed record album covers. My criteria for what I hang up are:

1. Has to be an important album in the history of music. Something that influenced music's future in some higher way.
2. I have to like it. I like MOST good albums, so read this as it has to be good.
3. It has to have cool album cover art. Obviosuly, this is a key factor since they are going on display.

The centerpiece in the room is a 3'x2' blowup of "London Calling" and so far I have bought "One Nation Under a Groove" by Funkadelic, "Let it Bleed" by the Stones, "Tommy" by the Who, and "More Songs about Bulidings and Food" by the Talking Heads.

Suggestions?

Off The Wall - 1979

1. Micheal Jackson's first solo album ... obviously historically significant.
2. how can you NOT like this album?
3. Cool album cover art? It's the last time Michael Jackson was photographed as a black man ... how cool is that?

It certainly meets 2 of the criteria, but I just never got into Pink Floyd.

Re: Albums For The Wall

I love these things.

My current living room has Led Zep's In through the Out Door with the guy looking down at the bar cover on the left, Eddie Harris's I need Some Money in the center, and Jay Z's Reasonable Doubt on the right (black hat white lining to mirror the Zep white hat black lining), all are heavily dark/light contrasted to work out well.

I've always wanted to throw up a Talking Heads record but I've always disliked their cover art, same with the stones. I guess it depends on what color scheme you're going for in the room though. Coltranes looks dope and of course are good ish.

Of course, changes greatly depending on what your taste is. Having some well known hits on my wall doesnt appeal to me, so I dunno. I say just go with some of your favorite albums that have had a big impact on you that also happen to look good.

Thats definately a good one, but Thriller is a must have, plus i dont know how you can say that Jackson isnt photographed as "black" in this:

fair point -- Thriller was my first choice but I gave the nod to Off The Wall because he was still rocking a 'fro instead of living off the jheri curl juice.

Metallica - Master of Puppets?
Metallica - Ride the lightning?

either one, but if you're going with alot of the others posted here, I'd go with Ride the Lightning.

How bout the album cover of the album with 'Blitzkreig Pop' on it? Wasn't it a black and white featuring the band leaning against a brick wall?

And Im pretty sure that even if you dont like it, you have to put up the Pink Floyd, just because it probably is the most recognizable album cover ever.

I'm like the exact opposite way. I hung some records on the wall but I went for albums I've never heard of that had no impact on music and the cover art was actually pretty terrible.

I think only the top one is wall worthy music wise, although all three have cool covers.

joy Division - Unknown Pleasures
Beastie Boys - Licensed to Ill (opened up to double size)

I think the cover for the 12" of 'The Message' was pretty cool -dunno if you guys in the States would have had the same one though.

I have multiple autographed Pink Floyd albums (Wall, WYWH, DSotM...) on the wall in my den.

Got them here. Plenty to choose from.
