Foxwoods dying out?
I played last monday and yesterday (Sunday) and was really surprised that there were no lists either days. Monday was a holiday, so I though that it was just an off day. I'm used to it being a madhouse with 1+ hour waits on the weekends. Is this the beginning of the end for Foxwoods? -Matt |
Re: Foxwoods dying out?
Foxwoods might not always be a "madhouse" - but it will always have tons and tons of games, even if the low-limit NL games are growing at a faster rate than the limit ones.

Re: Foxwoods dying out?
I realize this. I was just wondering if this was a general trend, I usually only make it down to the 'woods about once a month. |
Re: Foxwoods dying out?
If that's the case AND you want to maximize the number of people there, make it on Friday night or Saturday ... IF you can wake up Saturday early enough, getting there < 9am is often the ultimate pimp move.

Re: Foxwoods dying out?
Thanks, I'll probably give an early Sat AM session a shot. |
Re: Foxwoods dying out?
Not sure what you're worried about. I was at Foxwoods yesterday and it was plenty busy. They didn't have extra-long lists because they weren't running 90 tables or whatever their max is. Every time a list would get 10+ people on it, they'd open a new table.
I was at Foxwoods on Saturdays about 5 or 6 times over the summer, and it's busier on a) Saturday and b) during the summer. It was actually busier yesterday than I thought it would be. Side Note 1 - The cross sound ferry from Long Island, the Sea Jet, had some ROUGH seas on the way over yesterday. Half the boat had nausea and a few people lost it. 10% rougher and the whole boat would have killed themselves. Side Note 2 - GOD I love the 5/10 kill game at Foxwoods. Rob |

Re: Foxwoods dying out?
The limit games have been impacted by the heavy growth of the baby NL games. Also, once people bust out of the NL games their bankroll is gone and are not coming back to the lower limit games.

There were too many shorthanded tables and the floor was not good about condensing tables. |
Re: Foxwoods dying out?
Yeah, maybe. What with all the football jerseys and all.
I was 4th on the 5/10 list when I got there around 945am, and sat down at 2/4 while I waited. I played 1 hand and they called a new 5/10 table, which never even went..... I finally got my own seat by just sitting down at a 5/10 table that had open seats a few minutes later. I had like $500 in red and green chips when I sat down at the 2/4 table. The whole table looked up at me and said "This is only 2/4!," like, "Go away, we fear red chip games!" Rob |

[/ QUOTE ] I am afraid I have never been there at that time. Sometime I want to head down there on a Friday night and do an all nighter. As it is I generally get there sometime in the ten o'clock hour. In a related note, working for a living sucks. |
Re: Foxwoods dying out?
I went to foxwoods for a solid month(late July to late August). There were always games and there were always waitlists. I think this is a season thing...

Re: Foxwoods dying out?
Funny I should run into this post today. Last night my wife decided at the last minute to treat her daughter to a night at Mohegan. We got there at about 8:30, I dropped them off and headed over to Foxwoods. Got there a bit before 9, put my name on the Act I and II list and head to tha main room and put my name on the 4/8, 5/10 and 10/20 lists, fully expecting to play a satellite. I then start to head back to the satellite area when I get called for the 4/8. I was shocked.
Maybe a lot of people got sick of waiting 6 hours for a seat. That would be a good thing, I guess. A better thing would be for Mohegan to add a poker room. |
Restructure of the 1-2 NL?
hey is the rake still $5 a half hour in that game and max buy in $100?
did they restructure it? |

Re: Restructure of the 1-2 NL?
Hey I was there Thursday and the 2-5 NL is a 300 min 500 max with a $6 half hour charge. The 1-2NL is a 40 min 100 max game with a $5 half hour charge. Maybe one day they will restructure the 1-2NL to 100 min 200 max.

Re: Foxwoods dying out?
Foxwoods certainly wasn't dead last night. Everything 10-20 and down still had full lists when I left at 2AM.
Also, we had a break-in in our rotation who said that fw was trying to get a bunch of new dealers because they're expanding the poker room. |

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah...we had one in the second rotation our table had. She was new to dealing *and* new to NL. We needed the floor a couple times during her down. (She came back to us for a second down around 3am, about the same time as the time light came on...all of which helped me decide it was time to go.) |
Re: Foxwoods dying out?
That's good to hear. Maybe the "problem" is that the weak tighties don't want to pay $3 a gallon for gas. (Which isn't a big problem at all!) |
Re: Foxwoods dying out?
Similar experience to jar last thursday (10/20/05). Arrived at 6;30 p.m. The 10 game list was five or six deep, the place was packed. On weekends I've been stuck playing HE on stud tables there. Depends on the time of day. You'll get a lot of players rotating in and out due to the Act tourneys. I wouldn't worry about it. Only game in town for now.
