Am I way out of line here?

I do this kind of thing all the time on double paired boards when I hold an ace.

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Preflop: Hero is SB with K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
UTG calls, 3 folds, Hero raises, BB calls, UTG calls.

Flop: (6 SB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero bets, BB calls, UTG folds.

Turn: (4 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, BB raises, Hero calls.

River: (8 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 10 BB

any reads on BB? I really think it's read dependent.

Well, I'm not so much asking about this specific hand as the idea of calling down with A-high on a double-paired board.

So let's rephrase it like this: Against what type of opponent do you fold this to? Against what range of opponents do you call?

How significant is the decision either way?

Re: Am I way out of line here?

Preflop and flop seems pretty standard to me.

A question I would ask myself in the heat of the action when facing the turn raise would be:

"If he would bluff more often than 20% here, i would call him down. If not, fold".

Assumptions: you call the turn raise, he bets the river you bet.

So against a bluff-happy lad i would go for it, against a passive i would fold.

*grunch*

I think you played it just right. I'm not great on WA/WB strategy but when the 7 falls on the turn he either has the boat (which I doubt cuz he didn't reraise the flop) or two-pair w/ lower kicker. The J on the river could give him the higher two pair but I think the call is still the right move.

Im weak tight then, Cause i ditch this once i get raised.
He's BB... if i give anyone credit its him.

I disagree about this being WA/WB, what are we way ahead of that raises?

we're only ahead of Overcards.

I might check on the turn and just call down.

Re: Am I way out of line here?

I take this line quite a bit, but I don't know if it's +EV... good question.

I think that if you plan on calling down, it's probably best to just check-call the turn and river.

Just keep in mind that if you had T8o and he had AK, you should call this...

... Position rocks, btw.

I'm REALLY tired right now, as I'm sure you understand, so sorry if I'm not a help, but I think your two choices on the turn are:

bet/fold, and kc/kc.

Edit: scenario where you're calling with T8 depends on rake and whether or not he will call a river donkbet.
