Has online poker ever caused you to break an expensive object?

ie a mouse, keyboard, desk, door, wrist, or something similar?

Oh I never have broken anything. I just had a couple RL friends tell me today they had and wondered how common this was.

I have slammed my mouse on my desk, just never broke it! I had a friend tell me he punched through a DOOR though.

I'm one of the yes voters, but not sure whether it counts or not. I broke a wireless mouse once ($30 or $40). Need to stretch for "expensive".

Re: Has online poker ever caused you to break an expensive object?

Well it wasn't really expensive but one night the bad beats got pretty bad. I was pretty pissed so I took this old p.o.s. putter I got for free from a golf class and took a couple whacks at a weeping willow tree in my backyard. Then I broke the putter shaft over my knee and tossed it in the trash can. It was much easier to break than I thought. That was the only time I ever reacted that poorly in response to some losses. That was early in my poker "career" and I have matured since then. Nothing broken as of late.

Re: Has online poker ever caused you to break an expensive object?

Wireless mice dont seem to be a good idea to have in my repertoire. I dont break them because of bad beats alone as much as when I do something stupid repeatedly. (like make the right read but call anyways resulting in bad beats)

Re: Has online poker ever caused you to break an expensive object?

I've almost smashed my LCD's , television, car windows etc. but usually control myself at the last second and smash something else.

A wireless mouse met its fate because it stopped working when I had quads v the overfull. I couldnt scramble a spare mouse in the USB in time, smashy smashy.

I've ripped the door off my closet.

I've punched a bunch of walls which were annoying to patch but not spendy.

Threw a PS2 into a cement wall and it shattered.

I've always had, but hopefully not always will, have some bad anger management problems. FWIW though these were most all caused by the sheer rage and disbelief of myself playing so incredibly poorly, not bad beats, I love bad beats.

This made me laugh out loud for some reason. I've never broken anything expensive. I just throw cheap stuff like bottles of orange clean and pens. My hat is the first thing to go if I'm wearing one (although not breaky). I've thrown poker chips and made marks a couple times.

Re: Has online poker ever caused you to break an expensive object?

I haven't broken anything...yet. The wireless mouse is in constant danger of being slammed on the desk and the clay chips have been scattered many times. The worse thing I've done is lob my cat into the next room because he jumped on my lap just as I took a really bad beat . Luckily, he landed on his feet and gave me that "Arsehole!!!" look they always have.

Threw my RAZR phone across the room, hitting my TV. Luckily they both survived. One of those moments that as soon as it leaves your hand you're like "no!!!"

I threw a glass into my wall at about the top speed I'm capable of. That was a mess getting all the shards out of the carpet. Rarely to I flip out like this anymore however.

This is hilarious and needs to be revisted...

anyways, I was using a laptop and had an exterrnal mouse hooked up to it, for a few minutes anyways, grabbed the thing, started swining from it's "Tail" and wailed it off the desk/wall and it shattered. Pieces of mouse flew back at me, it was dumb, but, it felt a bit better.

Most people on this board just hurt their cat.
MSsunshine has been trying to kill his for 10 years, and probably would have succeeded if not for the fear of Granny's wrath

Re: Has online poker ever caused you to break an expensive object?

I've thrown a couple Dell CRT's which were about $700 a piece at the time off my desk when I was trading stocks for a living.

I used to smash mouses regularly playing poker. I buy these old Logitech Mouseman by the box-there like $10 a piece-for me I havent found a more comfortable mouse.

Dumbest thing I ocassionaly do with poker is I'll wing a Pilot Precise pen and have it explode-which is not too cool.

I've really toned it down thu in the last year or so. I'm getting too old to get that pissed off...and whenever you do usually get that pissed off you cant play afterwards--so you are just setting yourself up for a tougher day then you've already had.

Also forgot to mention that I've ruined more than 2 lcd screens on brand new Dell laptops by winging them across a room. Maybe thats why I never replaced that 2nd laptop I bought 2 years ago -really moronic.

haha I'm reading this thread after posting(bad habit)..another toy that has occasionally been abused is the tv remote-it's currently taped together and works aok.

Also I forgot the one thing I stil do in the last couple years is this ..I smash a calculater every 3-4 months. I went to Staples and bought like a half dozen as backups. The Xerox XRX-230 are great little desktop calculaters.

thats about all I can think of right now.

Shortly after reading "Zen and the Art of Poker" I broke my mouse and had to get a new one. I don't think it sunk in that well.

I did strain a neck muscle once from screaming at a (rather typical) runner runner perfect beat. Couldn't turn my head for a couple of days. Didn't learn a lesson either (sigh).
