Official lines for Week #6 of the \"3+1 NFL Challenge- 2005\" contest
Let's not leave any room for doubt, since my tirades are not getting through to people:
<font color="purple"> All games must be posted by Sundays at noon Eastern time at the LATEST! I don't care if you're picking only late games, or that you're on the West Coast, or anything else. 12:00 p.m. Eastern, the picks are closed for the week</font> The only exception is when there are games earlier in the week (Saturday, Thursday). <font color="blue">The deadline for your picks, if you are including an early game, is one hour BEFORE the start of the earliest game!</font> No exceptions to the Sunday noon deadline, as I said at the end of Week #4 and posted about during the early Week #5 picks. This is not a special rule for a particular week; it has been part of the official rules since last year. I won't be repeating this notice again. Okay, on to this week. Week #6 line<font color="white">_______________________________</font>O/U <font class="small">Code:</font><hr /><pre>Sun 10/16/05<font color="green"> Falcons at Saints +4.5 under 42.5 Panthers at Lions -1 under 41.5 Bengals at Titans +3 over 45 Browns at Ravens -5.5 over 34 Jaguars at Steelers -3 over 35 Dolphins at Buccaneers -4.5 over 33 Vikings at Bears -3 over 37 Giants at Cowboys -3.5 under 47.5 Redskins at Chiefs -5.5 over 43 Patriots at Broncos -3 over 47 Jets at Bills -3 under 33.5 Chargers at Raiders +2 under 50.5 Texans at Seahawks -10 under 45.5 <font color="orange">Bye- Eagles, Packers, Cardinals, 49ers </font> </font> Mon 10/17/05<font color="purple"> Rams at Colts -13.5 under 51.5 </pre><hr /></font> [i] I'm guessing that the Colts o/u hasn't been adjusted yet for the Rams getting back the Martz coaching deduction. $400 - Saints (because nobody in their right mind thinks NO has a chance.
$300 - Bills (there is no reason Buffalo should be favored against the all of a sudden mighty Jets) $200 - Vikings (Minnesota doesn't have a chance on the road. They lose by 14) $100 - Rams/Colts UNDER (two great offenses on turf. 42-35 Colts.) |

Method B CANNOT be any worse. |
My picks (Black Aces 518)
All right, let's turn this around.
$400 under 51.5 Colts/Rams $300 Saints $200 under 34 Browns/Ravens $100 Lions |
My Picks
$400 Browns
$300 Redskins $200 Patriots/Broncos OVER $100 Dolphins Browns +5.5 : The Ravens seem to be crumbling. Billick appears to have lost the team and Anthony Wright is incredibly bad for a guy thats been in the league for as long as he has. I like what the Browns are doing and I actually think they win this outright (I've got 1unit on them ML). Redskins +5.5 : back to back road games against above average AFC teams looks bad, but I think the Skins keep this one to a FG again. Pats/Broncs O47 : I'm terrible at O/U picks, but these teams have a chance to really light it up. The Pats D isn't what it once was and Brady really is going well right now. Dolphins +4.5 : Late back door cover here by the Dolphins. Good Luck to Everyone! FishNChips |
Re: Official lines for Week #6 of the \"3+1 NFL Challenge- 2005\" contest
Well, down 800 I think thus far, 3-5 overall.... 0-2 on my 400 bets. That needs to change this week.
$400- Giants/Cowboys UNDER $300- Titans $200- Panthers/Lions OVER $100- Dolphins |
My picks
$400 Giants +3.5
$300 Broncos -3 $200 Browns +5.5 $100 Colts/49ers under 51.5 Last week I went 4-0-0 with a certain semi-methodology, so I'm using it again this week. Basically, the rationale is as follows: Cowboys are overrated public team coming off a huge surprising win while Giants are still not trusted by most (but I believe in them), Patriots are just not that good and Denver has been playing very well plus the Mile High homefield, Browns may be outright better than Ravens, wanted to pick Colts under because it keeps hitting. |
My Picks
$400 Texans
$300 Saints $200 Rams $100 Vikings |
Re: My picks
I think the Cowboys were going to be -3 at home vs. the Gints regardless of what happened last week. Maybe the Philly game pushed it another half point.
|
My Picks
$400 Chargers -2
$300 Falcons -4.5 $200 Steelers -3 $100 Patriots +3 |

I'm sticking with my instinct. Plus even if you're right, that half point is pretty important. |

Re: Official lines for Week #6 of the \"3+1 NFL Challenge- 2005\" contest
$400 - Steelers
$300 - Patriots $200 - Chargers $100 - Cowboys Lots of 3 pointers this week. I'm 4-1 picking Bills games so far, but I think their spread vs. NYJ is pretty accurate so I'll stay away. Otherwise I think NE, Pit, and Dallas are better than this week's opponents on a neutral field. I should probably just shut up after going 4-0 last week with no comments. |
My Picks
$400 Bills -3 vs Jets
$300 Bears -3 Vikings $200 Giants +3.5 at Cowboys $100 Patriots +3 at Broncos |
My Picks
400 Ravens -5.5
300 Dolphins/Bucs over 33 200 Vikings +3 100 Dolphins +4.5 |

Re: Official lines for Week #6 of the \"3+1 NFL Challenge- 2005\" contes
400 - saints
One word - BSP (ok it's 3 words) 300 - rams/colts under 51.5?!? Indy's defense alone will ensure this stays under. Their offense won't score enough to compensate for the lack of Rams' offense 200 - browns/ravens under Good god - these two teams will have to score 5 defensive touchdowns to go over 100 - broncos/patriots under Both defenses are high-quality - I don't see more than 47 points being scored here |
My Picks
$400 Browns +5.5
$300 Rams/Colts u51.5 $200 Seahawks -10 $100 Giants +3.5 Hmm, I only took a quick glance at the results thread, but I believe I'm in sole possession of last place now. No matter. Now that I'm using THE SYSTEM, I expect to claw my way into the black by the end of the season. Seriously. I admit that I pulled out the THE SYSTEM at least a week early. It needed another game before it could reasonably be used, and I can see that now. Nonetheless, THE SYSTEM's past performance is extremely encouraging. In 2004, excluding Week 9 (for which I was unable to find the data I needed), THE SYSTEM was 87-70-2 against the spread from weeks 6 through 17, and 29-14-1 in it's top four weekly picks in that span. That latter figure included an heroic 22-5-1 mark from weeks 7 through 14 (the last two weeks were poisoned by nine games in which one team sat their starters). So, yes, I've started the contest with five consecutive losing weeks, but I expect to stem the tide this Sunday, then begin my triumphant march back to mediocrity next week. Huzzah! (Note: Colts Under isn't a system pick; the only other games that THE SYSTEM felt strongly about had some injury and/or intangible issues that I didn't feel comfortable dealing with. On the other hand, the 29-14-1 mark I quoted before was achieved using a pure version of THE SYSTEM, without concern for injuries or intangibles, so this could be a mistake.) |
