With what he has done with this team this year, after the awful start, I don't see how anyone could doubt him being a top 5 manager in the biggs (i know you haters are out there). Without Torre in '05, the Yanks wouldn't have made the playoffs, let alone take it to 5 games against a team everyone had beating the yanks anyways. |

Mel will not (by his own choice). Bernie I put at 50/50 to resigning the Yanks or not resigning. Matsui will almost certainly be back. Brian Cashman... 50/50 again whether he is coming back or not. I think the GM position is the biggest off season move we will see, as this affects everything else. |

They need a center fielder. I think this is the problem the yankees have if you compare the World Series Championship years and 2001 on.

Damon Opper-something will get the job. Torre comes back, I'm sure they ask Bernie back as a DH/ back-up outfielder and I'm sure he comes back b/c no one wanys to see him wearing another uniform and he doesn't talk like he's ready to retire. I think there's a 3% chance Matsui goes back to Japan, otherwise, he's back. Yes, Steinbrenner likes Damon. Unless the Sox trade Manny and pay Damon, I wouldn't be surprised to see him in pinstripes. I'd rather do something else... |

The Yankees have turned into the Atlanta Braves. You just know they will make the playoffs next year, but lose again in the first or second round. They need a massive turnover in players
to turn them into a real force, but I don't know how they can do this. |

The Rotation looks set unless Johnson retires
Mussina Johnson Pavone Wright Wang/Small Relief I think you have Rivera and I would think Gordon comes back but everything else after that is up for grabs. Infield coming back CA.Pasada 2B.Cano 22.Jeter 3B.ARod now the question is do they go after a First Basemen (which I would like) and use Giambi soley has a DH. I'm not sure who is available. If not them the entire infield returns and the DH spot is open (bernie is not an viable option here IMO) Outfield I would think Matsui is resigned. The big hole is in CF. I really hope they don't sign Johnny Damon as I can't stand him. He'd probably get the job done though. |

my biggest concern, as it has been for the past couple of years, is middle relief. Do Aaron Small and C. Wang go to the pen next year with a rotation of Johnson, Moose, Pavano, & Wright, +1?

I think Wright would be a little pricey in this type of role, but I also think that this gives the Yanks the best options for a starting staff. As far as the outfield goes, I heard Juan Pierre's name being thrown around today on the radio too. Does anyone know his contract status? I'd think he'd be a better fit than Damon just on age. Joe |
