A dealer smiled at me...how much should I tip?

...

Seriously, Johnny...can we add tipping to the TOP of the FAQ sticky?

The consensus about tipping and tipping threads has
been dragged, beaten, cut-open, buried, burned and
somehow is still alive.

Yes, just like taking out a splinter. Need to endure a little more pain and then start the healing.

I only tip if the dealer is a hot chick or dealing me aces from the bottom of the deck. I thought that was standard?

At least you refer to yourself with a lower case "I"

That helps our read...

I'm not sure. As far as I can tell, we don't have anything close to a consensus.

Obviously if a dealer smiles at you the proper tip is about $55,000.

I double concur.

I'd like to see more tipping threads, not less.

Besides, certain things in poker are always going to be debated and tipping is one of those highly debated "poker things".

Over-tipping is one of the many holes in my game and I'm still tweaking my tipping methods.
I've tipped $100 on a pot and I've tipped nothing. I'm still not sure which one was worse (from a player's perspective). YMMV.

Best Wishes

Howard

it seems most of these tipping posts are started by online players looking to visit B&M's for the first time...i think tipping posts should be posted in SS forums...they're the ones that need it. Anyone who's played in a card room before can figure it out.
