Tricky, but I'd say my top 3 are:

1) Married with Children
2) Futurama
3) Blackadder

there are of course hundreds of others, I'm very glad to say.

PS. For those in North America, have you guys heard of Tommy Cooper? or Morecambe and Wise? Just wondered, considering Benny Hill made it there - sorry bout that.

so am i correct assume neither of you two has mentioned seinfeld yet because it is undisputed as #1?

also, chappelles shop doesnt really count because there is so little material of it. its some of the funniest stuff ever, but a 2 season show cant really hold water in a competition like this. and the season/skits were very short as well, there was about 12 minutes of funny stuff in each show. genius stuff, but it doesnt cut it for a list like this.

3 Pheonix Knights/ The office (cant really split them)

Men Behaving Badley just outside the top 3 and some episodes of Fool and Horses make it in the top ten.

My top American Comedy would have to be the simpsons apart from that most American light entertainment I cant class as comedies, I did like Married with children way back in the day 1989 or so when Kelly was still hot, Christina went downhill rapidly.

This thread has persuaded me to give it a go again, though. I do think I may be missing out there.

Will and Grace is the weird one. I don't like it, but I find myself watching it cos I think the squeaky-voiced one is hot as hot can be. How FU am I, huh?

Forgot about South Park.

There was a old comedy that was pretty good that I dont remember the name of but was him from the Naked Gun films probably in the same role as he was a detective and was the same sort of humour.

Never got into Alan Partridge ut have seen the odd episode since it finished so have go the first series in my screenselect queue to give a try.

Agreed. On a side note, I think I love lucy was the first to introduce the 4 camera style that pretty much every sitcom has always used (until recently with AD I think).

Right. Also the first to tape in front of a live audience. Arnaz had to design and build a studio to make this possible.

Was called "Police Squad!" I always liked the bits with the informant.

For my sense of humor it's South Park. Never liked Seinfeld. I must admit I've seen few of the sitcoms of the last ten years, that genre is pretty played out for me. My all-time favorite of those may be Dick Van Dyke or The Honeymooners.

I only remember the first as a kid, but the second is great. If you're talking old American shows though, Bilko is king.

Forget Moneymaker etc, Bilko made me take up p***r when I was 10.

Does anyone else think the Simpsons is too preachy? It may have been good originally but lately I can't bear to watch it. Also, I still maintain that Curb your Enthusiasm is not as funny on the reruns which for me is the true test of a great show.
