So, what\'s the best TV comedy show, ever?
Tricky, but I'd say my top 3 are:
1) Married with Children 2) Futurama 3) Blackadder there are of course hundreds of others, I'm very glad to say. PS. For those in North America, have you guys heard of Tommy Cooper? or Morecambe and Wise? Just wondered, considering Benny Hill made it there - sorry bout that. PPS. If this has been done recently, let me know quick. |
Re: So, what\'s the best TV comedy show, ever?
this has been done ad nauseum.
|
Re: So, what\'s the best TV comedy show, ever?
1) Curb your Enthusiasm
2) Chappelle's Show 3) The Office |
Re: So, what\'s the best TV comedy show, ever?
The Andy Milonakis Show
|
Re: So, what\'s the best TV comedy show, ever?
1) Seinfeld
2) Curb Your Enthusiasm |
Re: So, what\'s the best TV comedy show, ever?
1) Seinfeld
2) The Jeffersons 3) All in the Family |
Re: So, what\'s the best TV comedy show, ever?
so am i correct assume neither of you two has mentioned seinfeld yet because it is undisputed as #1?
also, chappelles shop doesnt really count because there is so little material of it. its some of the funniest stuff ever, but a 2 season show cant really hold water in a competition like this. and the season/skits were very short as well, there was about 12 minutes of funny stuff in each show. genius stuff, but it doesnt cut it for a list like this. |
Re: So, what\'s the best TV comedy show, ever?
1. Seinfeld
2. Family Guy Chappelle Show is more a skit show, if that qualifies then it's #2. |

King of Queens end of thread [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I heard this from someone else. He was a fat delivery guy who fantasised about having a reasonable-looking wife though, so I ignored him. |
Re: So, what\'s the best TV comedy show, ever?
Anyone here like "Get a Life"...that show was amazing.
|
Re: So, what\'s the best TV comedy show, ever?
seinfeld, ship it
|
Re: So, what\'s the best TV comedy show, ever?
1 Blackadder
2 Fawltey Towers 3 Pheonix Knights/ The office (cant really split them) Men Behaving Badley just outside the top 3 and some episodes of Fool and Horses make it in the top ten. My top American Comedy would have to be the simpsons apart from that most American light entertainment I cant class as comedies, I did like Married with children way back in the day 1989 or so when Kelly was still hot, Christina went downhill rapidly. |
Re: So, what\'s the best TV comedy show, ever?

Men Behaving Badly [/ QUOTE ] haha, that show was awesome while it lasted. Futurama / Seinfeld / Family Guy / Simpsons In any order. They all have their own special way of making me laugh my ass off. |
Re: So, what\'s the best TV comedy show, ever?
family guy
south park simpsons married with children futurama sucks |
Re: So, what\'s the best TV comedy show, ever?
While 'Seinfeld' is the answer, 'I Love Lucy' is the template upon which all U.S. sitcoms are based. Desi Arnaz was an unappreciated visionary.
I am completely serious. |
Re: So, what\'s the best TV comedy show, ever?
Seinfeld
|
Re: So, what\'s the best TV comedy show, ever?
1. Scrubs
2. Remington Steel (probobly not classed as humor...) 3. The one with Bruce willis as a detective playing alongside some woman. |

Seinfeld [/ QUOTE ] I'd be surprised and ashamed if that was in the top 100 for British people. Blackadder and Red Drawf for me, probably South Park is funniest NA comedy. Mack |

Mack [/ QUOTE ] I've never seen a single episode of Seinfeld. He comes on, he looks just like Tony Blair to me, so I turn off the TV. I know it sounds dopey, but it's true. This thread has persuaded me to give it a go again, though. I do think I may be missing out there. Will and Grace is the weird one. I don't like it, but I find myself watching it cos I think the squeaky-voiced one is hot as hot can be. How FU am I, huh? |
Re: So, what\'s the best TV comedy show, ever?
Forgot about South Park.
There was a old comedy that was pretty good that I dont remember the name of but was him from the Naked Gun films probably in the same role as he was a detective and was the same sort of humour. |
Re: So, what\'s the best TV comedy show, ever?
Can't pick a favourite but here is a selection.
Father Ted Phoenix Nights The Simpsons Blackadder The Office Alan Partridge |
Re: So, what\'s the best TV comedy show, ever?
Never got into Alan Partridge ut have seen the odd episode since it finished so have go the first series in my screenselect queue to give a try.
Forgot about One Foot in The Grave as well some of those were fantastic. |

Re: So, what\'s the best TV comedy show, ever?
Oh, the UK contingent are here. Hi guys!
What you guys say about Porridge? Steptoe and son? I think SaS is, despite being popular and long-running, an underappreciated masterpiece of writing and playing myself, but what do I know. |
Re: So, what\'s the best TV comedy show, ever?
I love Red Dwarf, Black Adder, Python, Towers and everything, but I suspect the best show ever was Spitting Image at it's peak.

Also the first to tape in front of a live audience. Arnaz had to design and build a studio to make this possible. |

A lot of it's great sketches I remember to this day - and I might have seen them only once I remember one with Thatcher and the cabinet at a table, and a waitress comes in... waitress: And what would you like for lunch Thatcher: Raw steak please waitress: And the vegetables? Re: So, what\'s the best TV comedy show, ever?
There are so many to choose from, this is rather a hard question to answer; I will have to pick:
I love Lucy Seinfeld Cheers |

I must admit I've seen few of the sitcoms of the last ten years, that genre is pretty played out for me. My all-time favorite of those may be Dick Van Dyke or The Honeymooners. |

That would be the era I meant
"... and did those feet, in ancient times, walk up-on England's low-er class, and did their fore-fathers of old, tell them to get up off their arse? and did they try, to pass the blame, for all of their societies' ills? and now we're just the same... ....only worse We've closed the dark satan-ic mills... (she just hates tony blair, I don't know why) Does anyone else think the Simpsons is too preachy? It may have been good originally but lately I can't bear to watch it. Also, I still maintain that Curb your Enthusiasm is not as funny on the reruns which for me is the true test of a great show. |
Re: So, what\'s the best TV comedy show, ever?
I may have posted this a long time ago in the politics forum.
Anyway, I just remembered that the lyrics were online to an all time classic of theirs, and OOT is probably the best place for them to live. For those who have never seen the show, this was during the height of apartheid. I've Never met A Nice South African - sung by Spitting Image I've travelled this old world of ours from Barnsley to Peru I've had sunshine in the arctic and a swim in Tinbuktu I've seen unicorns in Burma and a Yetti in Nepal And I've danced with ten foot pygmies in a Montezuma hall I've met the King of China and a working Yorkshire miner But I've never met a nice South African. No he's never met a nice South African And that's not bloody surprising man 'Cause we're a bunch of arrogant b***tards Who hate black people I once got served in Woolies aften less than four week's wait I had lunch with Rowan Atkinson when he paid and wasn't late I know a public swimming bath where they don't piss in the pool I know a guy who got a job straight after leaving school I've met a normal merman and a fairly modest German But I've never met a nice South African. No he's never met a nice South African And that's not bloody surprising man 'Cause we're a bunch of talentless murderers Who smell like baboons I've had a close encounter of the twenty-second kind That's when an alien spaceship disappears up your behind I got directory enquiries after less than forty rings I've even heard a decent song by Paul McCartney's Wings I've seen a flying pig in a quite convincing wig But I've never met a nice South African. No he's never met a nice South African And that's not bloody surprising man 'Cause we're a bunch of ignorant loudmouths With no sense of humour - ha ha I've met the Loch Ness monster and he looks like Fred Astaire At the BBC in London he's the chief commissionaire I know a place in Glasgow which is rife with daffodillies I met a man in Katmandu who claimed to have two willies I've had a nice pot noodle but I've never had a poodle And I've never met a nice South African. No he's never met a nice South African And that's not bloody surprising man Because we've never met one either Except for Breyten Breytenbach and he's emigrated to Paris. (farts) Yes he's quite a nice South African And he's hardly ever killed anyone And he's not smelly at all. That's why they put him prison. Lori |
