Interesting spot - 5/10 live

The lovely Hollywood Park. 4 handed. 5/10. UTG is a Russian guy - complete maniac psycho - a limit player - off the wall. Button generally knows the game and tries to play well, but he's a loser. He is also very fat. So...

I ($1100) am dealt K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] in BB. UTG psycho ($550) raises to $40 as he does every hand. Large button ($1200) calls, I call.

Flop K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

I check, Psycho checks (very odd), Button makes it $100.

I call, Psycho pushes, button calls. I....

BTW/ im putting psycho on AA and fattie on KQ... maybe they have sets, but then you just rebuy.

Re-raise all-in. Flat calling here gives away the strength of your hand as much as pushing does, and it gives him a chance to suck out.

$1650 in there already. Stick your remaining $550 in there. When you win, buy the fat guy some wings and a cheeseburger. Buy the maniac a shot.

Push your chips in and then throw a ham and cheese on rye in the direction of the fat guy. It will distract him long enough for him to think your 2 pair beats his set of 3s

unless you know that psycho will only check top set on the flop, you have to go all in and hope that he thinks his AA or AK is unbeatable.

edit/ oops the button is the full stack with you. hrm his flat call of the psycho push might be him trying not to shut you out and wanting action. its still push or fold and given your reads

Diablo said "there is $1650 in there already, push your remaining $550 in".

On the flop there was $125 in the pot. Button bets $100, hero calls, psycho pushes in his remaining $510, button calls $510 and hero does what?

The pot is $1345 and hero still has $960 left....yes? Fattie called pshychos all in...he didnt push in also.

So - you're somewhat getting at why I think this is interesting.

If Psycho bets the flop and fattie raises - then I know I'm good. Psycho has any 2 and fattie has a big king, easy.

The fact that psycho c/r all in on a dry flop and fattie flat calls makes this a questionable decision, no?

Or...as most seem to think...the mechanics of the hand are meaningless and I have top 2 4-handed against 2 monkeys, I'm good so often here that it's a no brainer.

LOL AM I RITE

Anyway, top two against two bad players in a 4-handed game. Even if you're behind, you have outs.

yeah the mechanics of the hand are somewhat interesting, but if the action wasn't weird there would be no reason to post it and you'd have an autocall/push.

but you answered it in your last post, although the psychos c/r and buttons call are suspicious, you're hand is just too good to fold here. Make it bottom two and you'd have a tough spot.

Button flat called because he doesn't believe the psycho. its really not that scary.

I meant, if he calls. For the reasons la mentioned, he's good just too much to fold here. So, it's call or push. Given the $1650 in there after his call, might as well just go ahead and stick the rest in.

Ulysses 09-30-2005 08:01 PM

Re: Interesting spot - 5/10 live

There is imo never a reason to fold based on this action and these players. However, in live games, I will fold here when I take a look at one of these guys and know for sure he has a set.

So, yeah. Strategy-wise, interesting, not interesting whatever.

These days I find myself only posting the most fun hands from sessions, which are often not the most interesting....

So I stand up and yell "ALL IN", fat boy goes into the tank - for like an hour, and then glares at me amd mucks KJo face up. Huge laydown.

Russian looks at me seriously and says "You have set?".

"No, I have top 2" I say.

Russian lights up and says "I have outs baby!" as he rolls K9o.

Turn 9.

Good times.
