I\'ll Show You Weak Tight

Time to take the pressure off of PokerBabe. So here's one weak-tighted on every street. A 2+2er whose play I respect greatly sweated me on this hand and I imagine he thinks that, although he was gentlemanly enough to not even bring the hand up when we schmoozed a short time later.

I may have the first two rounds worth of action slightly wrong but they're close enough. 40-80 at Commece. Two limpers and then a raise. Small blind folds and I call from the big blind with A-T. Gabe asked to see my hand and I showed him and asked, "Did you see it?" I detected a degree of disgust and dismay and displeasure in his voice when he said he did.

Flop comes A-K-3 (rainbow I think). I check, first limper checks, second limper bets, original raiser calls, I call, first limper calls. Still four of us (I think).

Turn was blankish, I think an offsuit 6. I check, first limper checks, second limper bets again, original raiser now folds, I call, first limper calls.

The two limpers are pretty typical garden variety Commerce loosies. They play lots of hands, usually limping in. First limper is somewhat tricky post-flop, second limper pretty A-B-C and on the cautious side.

River is a 7, no flush possible. So board is now A-K-3-6-7.

I check and now first limper bets. Second limper shakes his head in dismay and disgust and disapproval, tsks a few times, and then, head still shaking, calls.

I . . . ?

[Bonus hand for fun--no content: The other 2+2er and I had agreed, as is our wont, to have a drink and after I racked up I went to get him. He was involved in a pot from his big blind and when I got there on the turn the board was A-9-5-5 and he had bet, been called, and then raised. He hesitated, considered, and finally mucked. The other guy called. We were headed to the bar and he turned around to see the river: . . . an Ace. He turned to me and, in finest 2+2 analysis, exclaimed, "Sh*t!"]

Looks fine to me. Sure, you could do things differently, but I don't really see how you compare this to the PB hand.

Did you mean to say you had 33?

It seemed fine to me as I was doing it, but then I realized I called, checked, called, checked, called, checked, _________ and it seemed an un-Andylike line.

I'm not really comparing it to the PB hand, just having some fun.

I wish I had had 3-3. I had A-To.

I can play much worse than that.

What do you mean by that remark?

If you really want weak tight, I would’ve probably folded before the flop.

The reason I was pissed on the other hand, was because that guy on my left, had that big pile of chips hiding his hand. If I knew he was in the hand I would have checked and called the turn. I had AQ.

i think you played this hand very well. i wonder what you did on the river. it's close between calling and folding. i think there's a nice chance your beat in two spots and you found the fold.

wow, i was considering raising the river and folding to 3 bet. It feels like you are splitting with second limper if you are ahead, and I want to drive him out of his share of the pot. Putting one more bet to win more than ur share?

live play is different. online this is not a fold. basically the limper got there that's what his donk bet on the river means. he has 54 probably and two pair minimum. preflop raiser has AK or AQ and is noticeably upset that his hand is now trash barely worth a call. this is standard stuff in a loose live game.

I like your line so far. This is nothing like the pokerbabe hand, but I think you know that and were just trying to be nice

"wow, i was considering raising the river and folding to 3 bet."

you are picking the wrong spots to be agressive.

preflopraiser had already folded.

I . . . . folded, despite getting 11.25:1.

First limper shook his head and sheepishly turned over A-8, one pair. Second limper showed A-3, flopped two pair, and his hand was good.

What was the deciding factor in my folding was the tsking and head-shaking of the second limper. He wouldn't have felt the pot was his and that he had been rivered had he had just one pair, (unless he has A-K or A-Q, both unlikely since he didn't raise preflop) since he had been called down in two spots up 'til the river. I've found that any time a player putting money into the pot on the river shakes his head in disgust, I have a better hand than him maybe one time in a thousand.

I hate it when they have big piles of chips.

Pretty good fold, though I'm not sure I find it. Good read.

Pre-river is played the same way I play it. Good hand.
