So I knocked this fool out tonight...

Ok, so I've been trying alot harder to keep my anger at bay since I've graduated (my nicknames not Mad Dogg for nothing), but tonight, this guy (who is obviously drunk) just kept pushing and pushing my buttons. This is a guy who is in my fraternity and we've had beef in the past. So anyway, I get back from a night in the City (celebrating my 26th and a friend's 25th bday) with some friends and we're back at the house and this guy comes through and here's the basic dialogue:

Him "So what's up man?"
Me "Not much, same ol same ol"
Him "So really what have you been up to?"
Me "Not much, ya know, just basically playin poker"
Him "So, basically, you wasted your whole life on some odds, huh?" "Your whole life comes down to: 'is he bluffing, I don't think so...'"
Me "Yeah, that's it..."
Him "You're a fckin joke"
Me "Yeah, it's pretty funny, actually, I mean, you will spend two more years getting a degree and then 3 more years you'll be making 1/5th as much as I am now..."

So, this goes on for a little more and I am basically trying to ignore him, as I have a couple of other friends trying to get this guy to realize that I will make more money this year than he will make in 5yrs as a chemical engineer (I was also a ChemE). I had resided myself to playing this off and just letting his drunk ass and my drunk ass go separate ways and ignore him.

Then, he gets in my face (he's about the same size as me, a little taller) and says: " Yeah, maybe I'm wasting my life like you"
"... You're life's a joke"

And I snapped, one step into him, and POW! knocked that Mufcker out. It was actually pretty cool, watching his face just blank out and whole body go limp and fall to the floor, and then my good friend rushed over to hold me off of him, but I got loose and got a PAT in. Then, two of my friends were holding me back, and I was more calm by then.

I really didn't want to hit this guy, but I just snapped. I am not sure really why I am writing this, I think more as a release more than anything else, but maybe some of you can give your opinions, as to whether you would have snapped on this fool or not.

Haha, well, that's not something I'm worried about as he is from a pretty rich family anyways - besides, we're brothers.

so you're 26 and still in college. This is mildly questionable, but you got outs...

Please don't tell us that you live at the frat house too. If so, then the other dude is right [ QUOTE ]

Not very hard to knock out a drunk person as their reflexes are delayed. Basically, you got a free shot. Nice work. Personally, unless he touched me or tried to hit me first, I'd ignore it. Try and get some of your frat buddies to calm him down or tell him to STFU at least.

Then fight him when he's sober.

Man, I always snap on fools like that! I mean, he was frontin'. Your life sounds so cool. I want to hit really drunk people, but I guess, as long as he's a brutha' its all gravy, huh? I'm not sure if that means I'm allowed to hit black people, or frat boys, but either one sounds alright to me.

I just wanted to say I really like the use of "PAT" to describe the additional kick you administered after knocking his ass out.

So, you make 300k a year and are still in college, or do you just not go to a school with a worthwhile ChemE program? Around here, they come out with the highest avg salary of any engineering degree.

Re: So I knocked this fool out tonight...

LOL, just for the record, I am in a fraternity (not 4 years but a lifetime. It's not your typical "frat", but one founded on diversity), and I graduated with a degree from the number one University in the nation in Chemical Engineering ~4yrs ago. I happened to be at the house after dropping off a friend who is staying there because his Law School is under water because of the hurricane. And yes, I did get the nickname while in the fraternity, but I have since outgrown my "Mad Dogg" days, but had a little slip last night.

I am not really proud about it, I was just looking for somewhere to vent off the extra adrenaline.

Re: So I knocked this fool out tonight...

If somebody that I hated, who was the same size as me, got in my face and told me my life was a joke, I'd (try to) do the same thing.

Don't feel bad. Sounds like he was provoking you pretty harsh, and was unrelenting and unreasonable.

I think he's just jealous.

Also, it seems like he is in love with you. Why does he care so much about "what you do with your life"? lol.

What a knocked-out homosexual. I didn't realize Chemical Engineers were this bada$$. You make Nic Cage's character from "The Rock" look like Pee-Wee Herman.

je-sus.

what is the world coming to?

1) why are you telling people you make mad money playing poker. truely successful poeple are humble. and success does not necesarily=$$.

2) why are you arguing w/ a drunk guy. just say "ok, im sorry, you are right. my life is a joke." and leave it at that. he's drunk and you provolking him provolking you is just going to end up as it did. you FAIAP sucker punched a guy who was trying to prove he was right and was drunk.

3) why do you need to prove that you're right? who cares. who cares if he thinks you're life is a joke or not. is it a joke to YOU?? do you have a subconscious question as to whether you made the right decision and were releasing this tension on somebody pushing those under the surface buttons?

4) you really need to calm down. wooooooosah.

hey next time if you hit him on the right side of his neck, below the jaw but a little in front of his ear, he'll go down just as easy. its called a flash knockout, it blocks the flow of blood (i think?) to the brain for a brief enough moment and causes you to black out momentarily.

no long term damage that i know of.

You will very very easily dislocate his jaw this way. Just tell him he has pretty lips and walk away.

no no, you dont come into contact with his jaw bone.

Do you only become bellicose when you drink? Would you knock this guy out for this reason if you had not been drinking. You don't even have to be drunk for this to happen just a few drinks can do it.

I had a few friends that always and I mean always fought when they drank sometimes with each other if they could not find a reason to attack a stranger. At least you took it out on a jerk.

Ten feet tall and bullet proof after 5 drinks?

Maybe if you clear another $1k in rakeback this month, you won't be so insecure about your success in life. Or, you know, you could start fights to show how awesome you are.

Man I never get tired of the argument "I'll make more money than you thus you're sht."

Unless you have reason to beleive he's right, you can laugh this off, few things mean less than the thoughts of drunken frat guys IMO.

He sounds like a douchebag who had it coming to him, but it sounds like what he said really struck a nerve with you. Any subconsious thought (or nagging from family, etc.) that you are wasting your life? Not saying he's right at all, but you should look into why that statement set you off.
