Music to help sleep...

yes, another music thread...

i have an early morning class and have trouble waking up, so i figure that going to sleep early the night before would help, but i just cannot go to sleep that early (usually around midnight or 1)...last night i was in bed for about 2.5 hours before i actually fell asleep...

i am also not the kind of person that can just fall asleep in silence, i usually have a movie or the tv on, so i figured music would help...

any classical or instrumental pieces that might help?

thanks

Not exactly what you are looking for, but:

Pink Floyd, Division Bell is what I used to fall asleep to.

It's said that Bach's Goldberg Variations were given as a gift to Count Keyserlingk so that Johann Gottlieb Goldberg (a student of Bach's) could play them to him on sleepless nights to help him sleep. Because of their repetition (being varations on the same ideas) they do serve well for this purpose.

I also favor Bach's Sonatas for Violin and Harpsichord and Bach's Cello Sonatas.

i need to start listening to something when i go to sleep too. the buzzing in my head is distracting sometimes. i kind of want one of those relaxation cds that plays sounds of water flowing. although it might make me want to pee.

you could buy a white noise machine, I don't have one but wish I did. A fan will do the same thing. also a band called Postal Service is good, pretty mello and girly but good for sleeping.

Hell yeah. Sasha's Airdrawndagger CD especially. Sasha & Digweed's Northern Exposure is good too, but it can get a little housey on some songs. Not great to sleep to. Sasha's GU is great too, but again, it's not always soft trance.

Radiohead - Kid A

I can't make it to track 2 of this album if I put it on and lay down.

I'm not making fun. I think it's a great album. In college I would put it on to fall asleep to and instantly be out.

Any GU release is going to be good but not all are good for falling asleep. My favorite is Lee Burridge's. Danny Howells's is excellent too.

I like Sigur Ros for falling asleep, or for just mellowing out.

Possibly Deep Dish Moscow or Paul Oakenfold Oslo. However, I will have to listen to them all again to officially decide.

Download Owen's (of american football) first solo album, might have to use SoulSeek to get it.

Definitely have fallen asleep on I-95 behind the wheel to that one.
