HBOs Rome Anyone Watching?

I've watched the first two episodes and am impressed so far.

Like most HBO projects this one seems well done. Power, Sex, Revenge.

Anyone watching -- what do you think so far?

Other than Julius Ceasar was blonde and balding, it's pretty damn good.

I thought it was OK, if a little convoluted. Who knew there was so much sex going on in ancient Rome?

I trusted HBO before and worked so hard to enjoy Carnivale that I'm very wary. I would be surprised if this show is a success - they're spending crazy money on it and I would think the market is limited.

I really like it. It's definitely better than 99% of the crap that the networks are putting out. After two episodes, it has me hooked.

Its good. Also, every review I read leading up to this show debuting said that the first two episodes were BY FAR the worst and most boring of the entire run...so I am really looking forward to the rest.

They're introducing the characters and setting up the plot, so it's no surprise that the first two episodes might be a little slower than the rest of the series. That being said, I found the first two episodes to be very good. If the next episodes will be even better, that's gravy.

Yep. Looks like Titus is going to end up siding with Caesar, and Lucius will reluctantly side with Pompey. Also, as an aside...I WISH I COULD BREAST FEED ON LUCIUS' WIFE. My God.

Do a google search (safe search turned "OFF") on Indira Varma. You will find a bunch that are NSFW.

The second ep was better than the first. Rumor has it that after the 3rd epp HBO stepped in and made them not suck or something.

I would like somebody with an understanding of this period to tell me how correct the costuming is, because it just looks kinda lame in parts.

The girls are hot though.

There was a lot of very well-documented hanky-panky going on. JC screwed anything with a vagina.

I'm no historian, but Ancient Rome is a hobby of mine. The dress of the period is very well documented, and not too bad in this series, either - I like that yound Octavian had on the purple-bordered toga of a youth. Once he reaches majority, the purple border should go away until he becomes a senator, when he can again enjoy the purple stripe. If it looks lame, it's because Hollywood makes it look too Hollywood in other shows/movies.

I saw the first episode yesterday, and I am definitley hooked. Can't wait to see the second. This series has got to be way too expensive. But hopefully their viewership will pick up.

M'kay. If I were gay, which I'm not - but if I were: He'd be the one biting the pillow, with a mug like that - I'd start cracking up mid doghnut-punch.

Peachy, find a better picture of this dude. Preferably with less pink.
