Commerce 100-200 report. Not pretty . . . .

I'll keep it short. The Commerce is a fantastic facility, all it's cracked up to be. 1-2 game is 3 to 4 times easier than the PP 1-2 game, IMO.

Question is . . . why do i suck so bad?

Unfortunately, just can't seem to win . . . been here 3 days, my focus is off because of the horrors of what is happening down south. Disgusted with this god-awful administration and the morons who run it.

Just can't focus as something as trivial as poker. I'll take my 8k loss and hit the road.

Sorry I don't have a better summary, anything of value to add. Just been a rough couple of days.

hi TSP, what do you think your longterm hourly rate in that game should be? im interested for my own personal reasons. what about a player who is actually good? (jk )

"that game is very tough"

no it's not. it can be tough and quite bad but in general it's an excellent game for such a high limit.

Re: Commerce 100-200 report. Not pretty . . . .

You played 3 days of 100/200 and lost 8k. If you played 8 hours a day at 35 hands / hour, you played 840 hands total. You lost 40 big bets in 840 hands for an irrelevant win rate of -4.76 BB / 100 hands. What are you boohooing about? Isn't losing 3 days in a row at live play ridiculously common?

That game can vary a lot. However, even the live ones are tricky. You'll be put to the test. Think about it this way: where do the best players in the world play? LA. This is the biggest hold em game that they spread, usually (yeah, there's a 3/6 game, too). Do the math.

this is very true. however, what limit would you prefer at commerce, 40-80 or 100-200

Not boohooing, donk, I just dont like it when real-world problems and human suffering takes my level of play a notch below what it needs to be successful in this game, during a trip I have been planning for several months.

Oh yeah, some cards would have helped, but no excuses. Just not mentally prepared to play successful hi-limit holdem.

if i had the bankroll i would play the 1-2 at commerce no question. i could make significantly more per hour playing that game.

Take a road trip, find a nice game, play for 3 days, get your ass handed to you by some trash talking monkeys, end up $8,000 down, see how you feel. Add the sickening sh.it going on right now. Its a drag. Its not that he can't handle it, but like he said, its not pretty.

If you won 8k, would this post have any mention of "the horrors of what is happening down south".

Commerce isn't for everyone man. It's OK.

Respect your opinion TSP but not buying it at all. Saying you were just plain cold decked would be much more realistic and believable. I think if you had run really good the administration would have been an afterthought.

I could be totally wrong, but an otherwise good player getting rocked playing 100-200 during this crisis and using the plight of the victims of one of our country's worst natural disasters as an excuse for losing is Bush.

This is silly, TSP obviously knows he had a less than good deck during this period of play _but_ he also knows that he wasn't playing as well as possible because his focus was elsewhere. Losing $xk [in this case] isn't a product of just one of those reasons it's a product of both, had one of them been positive the amount would have been less.

[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, obviously. If the cards were great he would have won regardless of how little focus he had, and yes, he wouldn't have 'blamed' his focus, this is human nature, how often do you check your game when running great? how often do you get mad at yourself for playing a hand like an idiot but winning it?

I respect your opininion too Gambler (after saying that almost every time I post in a hand that's above 40 it becomes a disclaimer, like if it went unsaid it wouldn't be true. I go back to what Kick says about some of those who play $100-200. Some of them suck. The only difference being never having sat in the game. I've capped at 30-60 so far.)

What's your point? Why? I'm wrong? Okay. You win. Nolo Contendre. It doesn't change why TSP got spanked.

If you truly have the willies about the hurricane, do something: send a check, get your friends to send checks. Sign up to volunteer at a local hospital when you get home. There are plenty of people who need your help even without hurricanes.

A little bird told me you would be doing things other than poker here in la-la land as well. Did you get out to Malibu? Go see the Getty, ogle the lithesome lovelies, sample our sushi--whatever does it for you.

Goodtime Charlie's got the blues, blah, blah, blah . . .
So you got cold-decked, or you played your C game, so what? If you play your cards right, you might get to meet me this weekend.

No, don't think so. I did get beat by someone with something like that, but that fellow tilted off about 15k or so in about 3 hours. Would be hard-pressed to believe that was you.

Nothing in particular pissed me off, just kind of a ho-hum couple of days.

FWIW, Joe told me he didnt feel like playing poker while he was still a small winner in the game. I played some 1-2 this past week and the game was very good. But, until they start dealing me 300 hands an hour, I probably wont be making too many trips out there. I think a good player playing the 30-60 will win a lot more than a great player playing the Commerce 1-2 even with perfect game selection. Throw in the fact that 90% of the guys Ive played with in that game have been real miserable people, and it doesnt appeal to me all that much. When I used to play live a lot that stuff never bothered me, but now that I pretty much only go to mix it up and have a good time, I'm not too crazy about it. They are all laughing it up and having a good time when they are stacking chips, and screaming at dealers and telling bad beat stories when they arnt. If there was more guys like Andy in that place, I'd probably make the 20 minute drive a lot more. Anyway he is right, poker is dumb, we should have drank beer and went to Malibu.

andyfox 09-04-2005 01:16 AM

Re: Sry I missed ya, Andy . . .

OK, next time. Take care.

I donated some chips to Snakehead today and I felt like playing.

On another note, I never saw more dealer and floorman mistakes than I saw today at Commerce (which is saying something). Snakehead and I expressed our concerns, politely, to a supervisor, who said he'd address the issues and then, surprise, did nothing.

sounds like me. I lost about $10,000 that day. hell of it was, I was still ahead for the week after that.

but since you had been playing over 24 hours and had over $25,000 in front of you, how could you have lost $9000?
