$10,000 cash or $100,000 in nickels???

Simple Question. Would you rather have $10,000, to spend any way you want or $100,000 but only in nickels. You cannot cash the nickels in. If you want to buy something, you must use only the nickels. I swear I'm not a polltard, I find this topic very interesting.

I'd be paying my rent in nickels for a long, long time.

Assuming you're not rich as f*ck to start with you'd have to be a retart to take the 10k.

The coinstar fees would be HUGE for the nickels. I would obviously still take them and buy a new truck to haul the rest of them around in.

Re: $10,000 cash or $100,000 in nickels???

I'd say you couldn't really spend the 100,000 in nickels. You can't cash them in and no one would take them. The only way to do it would be to buy money orders from a bank because I think they have no choice but to take it. If you walked into a grocery store with 100 bucks in nickels and tried to spend it I don't think they'd let you.

Re: $10,000 cash or $100,000 in nickels???

Obviously nickels is going to win this poll in a landslide. To make it even close to interesting, the question should be maybe $10,000 in cash vs. $12,000 in nickels -- is it worth the extra 20% to deal with the hassle of the coinage?

LBJ 08-31-2005 11:33 PM

Re: $10,000 cash or $100,000 in nickels???

You also can't put the nickels in the bank. You keep them at home in bulk and grab em when you need em.

BTW, let's say your rent is $500, I highly doubt your landlord will take 10,000 nickels as payment, since he'd have to count them and cash them in.

Re: $10,000 cash or $100,000 in nickels???

i would assume if you offered say 25000 in nickels for a 20000 car they would probably take it. but then again im only assuming.

im sure someone, somewhere could take those nickels and give you cash for them.

if anything, walk into best buy and announce you have 100k in nickels and want to buy a gift card with them. Watch in amazement as an army of CSR's huddle over to you to count the nickels, 10 hours later you have 100k on a giftcard, profit++

It depends on if the car dealership will accept the nickels. Same with college tuition. If not, I'll take the cash please.

12000 to 10000 is probably too close. most people i assume would just take the 10K.

i would say it would have to be at least 15K in nickels to consider probably more like 20K.

I think if you walked into a car dealership with 100k in nickels they would find some way to get you a car, they are crazy like that.

and all you would have to do to get people to accept them would be to roll them like banks do. We accept them (after weighing them) where I "work"

i guess for a group of poker players its skewed. ive lost 2K in 3 hours and the opportunity cost of the time it takes to deal with 2K blows it out of the water.

in all seriousness nickel slots may be the answer.

the payout rates can be as high as 97 - 98 percent.

probably get the best return with the least hassle.

Re: $10,000 cash or $100,000 in nickels???

I'd take the nickels. I've been sticking $150 in nickels up my ass for the past 11 years! That's 3,000 nickels a day; 21,000 nickels a week; 1,092,000 nickels a year! To date that's 12,012,000 nickels, 8 times the population of Nebraska. Those nickels were in my ass! You think you're better than me? Oh, you're not better than me. You handle my ass nickels everyday. You pick up my ass nickels for good luck. You throw my ass nickels in fountains and make wishes on them. You give my ass nickels to your little daughter to buy gumballs with.

Go to local casino, grab a stack of buckets. Spend a week turning them into paper money. This isn't hard, people.

Sponger15SB 08-31-2005 11:47 PM

Re: $10,000 cash or $100,000 in nickels???

You could find someone to sell you something worth like $90k for $100,000 in like a week tops.

Then you sell the $90k object for $90,000 in cash and there you go.
