What would you do? (Annoying office cube situation)

So the guy three cubes over is new, just got here while I was in Las Vegas last week. Problem is, he's not in his cube, and his phone just rang 4 times in quick succession at max volume playing the lyrics to Michael Jackson's "Beat it". Very annoying.

What would you do?

Turn off his phone. Tell him you did so because it rang 4 times while he was away. Politely introduce yourself if you haven't already done so.

If it's easy (and you know how to do it quickly) then just silence the phone instead.

I'd put on headphones and music if you can get away with that.

It's a cell phone, those things are pretty durable.

That or if his phone is locked, leave a post-it note asking him to turn it down when he gets back.

I mean, you just got back from vegas, I know you're blasting vileness.

Go to his desk and switch the "N" and the "M" keys on his keyboard. The frustration that ensues will not only be hilarious to witness but also might lead to him destroying some of his property (perhaps his cell phone?).

tell him that new people are not allowed to bring their cell phones to work; they must leave them in their car.

Heh, Durron is thread-jacking his own thread.

He outta get a medal.

Back on topic:

next tuesday bring in a bottle of Draino and coat his keyboard, monitor and chair in it. He'll touch the keyboard and then his mouth...hilarity will ensue!

Similar situation a couple months ago.

I disconnected the battery from her phone, left a sticky note on her desk, and brought the battery to my office. Problem solved.

I eat one of those and wash it down with three steak soft tacos. My colon then rejoices with a pipe organ fugue.

He's got "Beat It" on his phone, so he's obviously a badass. Watch out for this guy.

To solve your problem, post his email here.

Get some tool & die maker's blueing. Schmeer a little dab on the earpiece. This doesn't solve your problem, but hilariy will ensue. Also good for locks on filing cabinets.

I turned his phone off and left him a note that I had done it. Probably should have put my name on the note, because he was like "does anyone know who left this note here?" I told him it was me and he was like "how long was it off for" and seemed like he was waiting for a call.

Well, if you were waiting for a stupid call take your phone with you, idjit!!

I would've if he was there, the problem is that the ring tone was loud, repetitive, and he was nowhere in sight.

Maybe the poster is a John Holmes type of guy, capable of sticking into his own pooper. Although I'm not sure what this would accomplish in the situation described.

I'm pretty sure he wants the phone to end up in someone's pooper. You can argue over the strategy of him putting it up his own or someone else's pooper.
