KK hand that makes me want to vomit in terror.

Maybe not that bad, but I was still sweating it on the flop. Do I bet the river? Do I slow down on the flop and see if I boat it up?

Button's stats are 66/9/.95 for the record.

Sorry, posted wrong hand. Clipboard didn't save it the first time.

Bet the river. He check-called the turn and checked the river. He probably has the naked Ace of diamonds. He could have two-pair, a set of Tens, etc. A flush should have put more action on the turn. If he has the nut flush, oh well, he gets two bets on the river from you.

Re: KK hand that makes me want to vomit in terror.

Personally I am capping the turn. If he has A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] or A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] oh well, you still have outs to improve to a FH. I think it is much more likely that you are up against AK or AA with the A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], or a set of tens, or any other number of hands this donkey could have capped preflop. I would likely c/c the river though UI.

no reads on SB?

He could be coming along with 2 diamonds, he could also come along with KT / T9 / K9 and think his 2 pair is good. He could be trying to scare you off. This is very much a read hand.

I don't think I cap the flop, I bet the turn, and I think its very close on the river check. I think I check behind too because I hate being c/r here.

If this makes you vomit in terror, what happens to your body when you have K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and the flop is 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]? Do you just explode?

Re: KK hand that makes me want to vomit in terror.

All we know about sb's hand is that he'll probably play any 2 cards out of the sb.

Likely hands for SB:
flush
QJ
1 pair w/ A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
2 pair/lower set

You would expect him to fold his A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] hands to a river bet so you're only collecting on 2 pair or lower sets.

You're probably not getting c/red on this river if he has a flush, so he has to have 2 pair/set over 50% of the time to make a value bet good. I'd bet here but I think it's very, very close.

Come on. Very easy Simpsons reference.

My read on the button was that he would play nearly anything from any position if he liked it, which included nearly basically every suited card. Cause it's soooooted.

BTW, he ended up having KTc.

Re: KK hand that makes me want to vomit in terror.

If he has a flush, why did he play the flop fast and then slow down? Either he's scared of a better flush (or any flush) or he has a strong draw. Given that he called 2.5 SB preflop, he probably has something like AA/KT/TT/99 possibly the ace of diamonds. While you may lose to a flush I think you are too often way ahead here all the way to check behind on the river.

Re: KK hand that makes me want to vomit in terror.

This is a very easy river bet. A ton of two pair hands call you here, im not sure exactly what you were worried about when he just called the turn. Maybe QJ?

Hamlet 08-26-2005 01:26 AM

Re: KK hand that makes me want to vomit in terror.

People, he check called the turn and checked the river. It is pitifully weak poker to check behind on the river.

A flush is very likely to have raised the turn. If he didn't, well he gets back the bet he should have gotten on the turn anyway.

A fast flop and a slow turn smells like the single Ace of diamonds, hopefully with a pair that can pay you off.

value bet the river, if he raises call it down. He could have held the Ace of diamonds and missed the flush.

this play reeks of a naked ace of diamonds so bad its sickening.

Re: KK hand that makes me want to vomit in terror.

Why not bet the river? Do you think the river card made your hand no good?

Flop action could be someone getting crazy holding the A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], although yes it could be a baby flush.

But I still think that the way the action went on the turn, you're missing a value bet on the river.

Wait till the turn to raise a non-diamond (don't cap). Bet the river as you played it.

Bet the river. If he has QJ then so be it. He could also have KT, K9, T9, TT or 99. You simply have to bet these rivers. I would also consider calling the flop 3bet with the plan of raising a blank turn.

I dont like this line with MP1 there. Raising on the flop (and ideally going to war with the SB) will stand a much better chance of folding out MP1, who could be sticking around with a 1 card diamond draw. In order to protect his hand, hero needs to fold all marginal diamonds ASAP.

value bet river. You can also call a raise on the flop and raise the turn on a safe card. and just because you got lucky and won a big MTT and have the BR for 2/4 now doesnt mean you can play 2/4. pay your dues man

Re: KK hand that makes me want to vomit in terror.

Easy river value bet imo.

He would have c/r'd the turn with the flush considering he is out of position. I think your more likely up against an Ad hand like AK or AT or something which caught a piece of the board.
