Coolest \"epic fight scene\" in a movie?
 

What I mean by "epic fight scene" is a one on one fight scene between the hero and the villain that is usually the cilmax of the movie. It's also probably long.

Good point. Perhaps "epic" wasn't the right word as it connotes an epic story/poem, where on envisions armies.

I really wanted to get coolest one on one fight scene, not a battle scene.

virtally every fight scene in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" is an epic fight scene -

for the last scene, I'd go with the ending of "House of Flying Daggers" - when they start the fight it's green grass, and when it ends about 4 inches of snow has fallen

The final fight between Preston and Dupont in Equilibrium. Not really epic as it's sort of short, but one of the coolest fights I've seen in a movie.

That was certainly the best END to a fight. I'm not sure it was the best END FIGHT of a movie, if you understand the distinction I'm trying to make.

Good choice, though.

What about the ending scene of Equilibrium? Probably not the best one-on-one fight scene ever, but the entire sequence of fight scenes was incredible. What an outstanding underrated film.

I'd say the shootout in Heat after the bank robbery, but that's not the climax of the movie.

Bruce Lee vs. Chuck Norris in Return of the Dragon. It's especially great because the whole thing is set up as a psychological progression, not just a matter of eventual luck, surprise, or who's the grittiest or baddest or whatever.

I wish that way of setting up fights, to make them inherently interesting on a level that goes beyond the punch-out, had caught on. Fight scenes would be much more fun today, and less mechanical. I still have the most fun in fight scenes that have psychological elements to them.
