The worst played hand . . . ever.

I know about the whole 'NC' thread, but jeebus look at this. This at least let me laugh as I threw off 40BB tonite.

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (8 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
1 fold, Hero calls, 4 folds, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: (3 SB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks.

Turn: (1.50 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks.

River: (1.50 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks.

Final Pot: 1.50 BB

Results below:
BB has 7d 9s (one pair, jacks).
Hero has 2s 2c (two pair, jacks and twos).
SB has Kh 5h (straight flush, ace high).
Outcome: SB wins 1.50 BB.

That's pathetic. There's no other word for it.

So what was he supposed to do, bet the river and lose customers? God you idiots couldn't slow play your way out of a wet paper bag.

Re: The worst played hand . . . ever.

The correct play was obviously to open-fold the river.

I know it looks bad, but check/raising this small pot on the end is arguably the right play (although we have no idea of his intentions).

Haha, so perhaps he was attempting to check raise the flop, turn, and river?

I think SB should have bet out rather than trying to check-raise. Against typical 1/2 players, if SB bets out here, a smaller flush will call, netting him 1 or 2BB. However, if SB check-raises, he most likely gives his hand away and will still only gain 1 or 2 BB when the others fold to the check-raise, and it's also leaving the likely chance of it being checked through(which indeed it was).

You do realize he flopped the nuts, right?

Now if Party offered a sizable Royal Flush bonus this might be a different story.

Last time I checked, that was a royal flush...

royal flush is just a fancy name for ace high straight flush.

Re: The worst played hand . . . ever.

The villan didnt want to bet because he was almost sure he would have no callers and prob not get a chance to draw to the royal which he hit, prob his first time

I played against a guy last night who let the flop, turn and river all check through when his QTo in the SB flopped QQQ. I thought that was pretty goddamn bad...

Re: The worst played hand . . . ever.

You've all got it wrong. There was a perfectly logical reason why he didn't bet the flop or turn.

While he merely had an Ace high flush with the king kicker, it was possible that someone out there could have the Jack and nine of hearts, giving that person a straight flush draw if the 8 of hearts came on the turn or the river.

So the only safe play was to wait until the river to bet. Then he executed what was to be a brilliant checkraise, only to be foiled when his opponents poor play messed it all up.

(this is the dumbest thing ive ever heard) Ill cap that hand, and surely my larger sf draw is much better than the j9 scenario, note: I hope ur being sarcastic)

Ive been at tables before where people checked through HU for a royal draw, people want to hit it sometime, and if ur raising and villan has total [censored] u just killed the opp.

I'm 100% certain that's sarcasm. I got a cheap laugh out of it.

I've really got to wonder what the guy was thinking, at the very least on the river.

That's exactly what I was thinking. And then once it hit on the river, he wanted the showdown so everyone could see it!

Huh what? He flopped a flush, is holding a King with the Ace on the board, it's not paired and no one could have a straight flush because he holds one of the cards that could complete it. He has the nuts on the flop. And the turn.

If you're referring to the second part, some casinos have a bonus if you make a Royal Flush; Party used to have one to the tune of $125 from what I'm told. Turns out he's a 1 in 23.5 dog to make his Royal by the river, so if he doesn't think he can pull 5+ BB from his opponents by the river it would actually be worth taking two free cards to go for it.

This is all theoretical of course, since there's no longer a RF bonus at Party.

Hey, I think they'll send you a hat. Since it's adjustable, how big you decide to make it is entirely up to you.

I got a strait flush at Tulalip last saturday and they gave me a red had. Had it been a royal they would have also given my $100 or so.
