I am going to be the first to say that I thought Seinfeld was the funniest show ever, but then along came Arrested Development.

Who won that poll? I never saw the end.

Re: Best sitcom ever?

You've only left out probably a hundred or so possible competitors. Flawed poll I won't play.

Many

I didn't realize The Three Stooges was a sitcom. Silly me.

And "The Facts of Life"? Jeezus. Why not just go and throw "Full House" in there and be done with it?

If this is a jopke, well done.

By the way, where the hell is The Fresh Prince?

Yo, we should do a best action film of the eighties!

im sorry but the most ingenious sitcoms i think have been: arrested development, family guy, and now its always sunny in philadelphia.

everything else is just not funny.

for some reason i could never get into seinfeld, but i think curb your enthusiasm is great. go figure.

i dont think simpsons qualifies as sitcom.

charles in charge should be on there.

Chaostracize 08-19-2005 02:36 AM

Re: Best sitcom ever?

I like how so many people use the qualifier "the show about nothing" after making a point about Seinfeld, as though someone may have forgotten.

No, we know. It was about nothing.

Anyway, Seinfeld's up there, but nothing compares to arrested development.

Are you my caucasian?

I love the show and it may go down as one of the best ever, but for this sort of contest I like to eliminate recent shows. You have to see how they stand up over time.
For me it's Seinfeld #1, Simpsons #2, and anything else a distant #3. For now.

IIRC Seinfeld won the last poll, which was much more comprehensive than this piece of garbage. Seriously, Three Stooges and Facts of Life, wtf

Re: Where\'s Curb your Enthusiasm? (no text)

How are Simpsons and Curb not sitcoms? Because they aren't filmed in front of an audience?

benza13 08-19-2005 10:07 AM

Re: Where\'s Curb your Enthusiasm? (no text)

I can understand that some might say animated shows aren't sitcoms (which is BS, but some might say that). Curb is without a doubt a sitcom though, and a great one. A few more seasons and it might be challenging Seinfeld for the overall best title.

BottlesOf 08-19-2005 10:20 AM

Re: Where\'s Curb your Enthusiasm? (no text)

I never said Simpsons wasn't. Just Curb. I may be wrong on that, but to me, I don't think of it as fitting into the model of what a situational comedy is. The lack of live audience or laugh track is just a small part of that. I'm looking some stuff up to see if I can find any support, but I may just be wrong.
