Legends of Poker/ LA questions

1. How are the 515$ satellites to these things at the Bike, allin fests because of rising blinds or a solid value?
2. If you buy in to multiple satellites will you get cash value if you place in multiple satellites or have already signed up for the wpt event?
3. When is the last moment you can sign up for the 5k buy in tournament (the day before/ week before)? As in do these things fill up quickly or do they wait for as many players as possible to sign up.?
4. I will be staying at the Commerce Plaza hotel for 6 nights regardless of whether I play in the WPT, what limit or no limit games are most attractive for a 2-4 8 tabler/ 400 NL 4 tabler 6 max and full/ 33$ NL HE sng 8 tabler?
5. Anybody willing to meet up and talk poker/drink and help me with the goings on in that area??

PS- I plan on bringing about 8k for Poker (should I bring more/less). Also I'd really appreciate any responses as I've already emailed the Bike and they haven't responded in ten days.

This has been sitting for a couple hours and I'm honestly sick of twoplustwo posters in general. You only get responses if your a "name" poster, are totally clueless or you have a bunch of friends who want to talk sh!t and drink with you in a hole in the wall card club. Do I have to some absurd quest, or crazy story to get a response but then again most responses I would get would be of the juvenile kind. I thought this was a board to get information and get better at poker. I'm also sick of this bs talk like (do you know why, fyp, ship it bitch,holla,p3wned) which seems to get everybody's attention while I'm hitting my head against the wall.

I would try the B&M forum

This is a WPT tournament. Also in my experience I don't relegate myself to one section of the site. This is a value of content/poster problem not an issue of placement IMO.

What the hell is your problem?

Are you leaving right now-in that case you should've posted this earlier and if not, then you are incredibly impatient.

I don't know the answer to any of your questions-and also recommend reposting this in B&M-but keep in mind that people who answer your questions are providing you with a valuable service which they do at the opportunity cost of their own time. This is not some sort of ondemand archive where your every question is answered how you want when you want; but its the best there is for now.

If you continue to act this way you will lose that resource as you have already lost whatever semblance of dignity you may have had with other posters whose council you have sought and will seek. Is all that information-which oftentime has direct monetary value-worth your misguided, rambling phillipic?

Re: Legends of Poker/ LA questions

I'm sorry but if my post is rambling than your post is a 6 year old with a dictionary randomly picking "big" words which obviously adds up to a whole lot of nothing. This is not an isolated incident and I try to make it go both ways when I think I have a useful response to a poster with a question. I'm not asking for anybody to look up anything but I think its conceivable that there is first hand knowledge from somebody.

Or perhaps nobody read your post in the 3 hours you left it up that could actually answer your question.

Nah, it's definitely a conspiracy against you specifically. Everyone hates you.

Re: Legends of Poker/ LA questions

I can give you some information that may help you make some inferences about the information you seek - but I do not have any firsthand knowledge of any of the questions you asked.

1. I played in four super-satellites for the main event at The Bike last week. The single-table $515 had not started yet. The supers were short-stacked $100 rebuy tourneys and very much an all-in fest. It was really too bad, as they could have made them so much better for both the players and the prize pool by giving just a little more out in chips for rebuys. The extra chips would not have resulted in much more effort for the casino and would have enticed more rebuys from players. Many players who busted near the end of the rebuy period would not rebuy because the resulting chips from the rebuy and add-on would not give them enough of a stack to play at the next blind level. I observed some cheaper single-table satelites and it appeared they were also very short-stacked. I would suppose a $515 may give a little more play though.

2. I was told that multiple satellite winners would get chips for entries to other events - similar to WSOP satellite winners. I saw people selling these chips to others who were entering events. So you may be able to get cash value out of them. So if you won a $515 and were already entered in the main event, you would get a chip worth $5000 toward entries to other Bike tourneys - which you may be able to sell for cash.

3. I think you can enter right up until the time the event starts.

4. I played a lot of $40-80 limit hold 'em at Commerce and found the action to be very good. I did not play any no limit cash games.

5. I would meet up but I am not in the area any longer.

As for how much $$ to bring - really depends on how you plan to budget your satellite attempts and what cash games you planned to play. I budgeted $1600 for satellites and did not get any return on that. I also brought $10K for cash games and just played $40-80. Luckily I ran good and it was plenty.

Good luck.

Yes, you're last line perfectly applies to my post (s). (sarcasm)

Re: Legends of Poker/ LA questions

Thx for your response as it was very helpful. Since I don't live in the area a 5000 chip for future tournaments is not too appealing. Could I get even 90% of face value for it??

Re: Legends of Poker/ LA questions

You can usually get 100% for lammers. It's not like W$ online.

I too would recomend the B&M or MTT forum for these types of questions.

Re: Legends of Poker/ LA questions

Talk about a whole bunch of completely worthless answers...

1. The $515 are a good value.

2. Like someone else already said, you will get Bike buy-in chips. You can easily sell these to people playing the main event.

3. You can sign up for the main event probably up to about an hour in to the event.

4. The 20-40 and 40-80 are VERY GOOD at Commerce. There are filled with loose/bad players generally and a decent limit player can make good money there almost always, Commerce is strange like that, always really really good games at that level.

Re: Legends of Poker/ LA questions

1. How are the 515$ satellites to these things at the Bike, allin fests because of rising blinds or a solid value?

Don't know. The one table satellites they were running yesterday were only 60's and 80's and the structures were terrible. I'm sure next week the structures will get better for the bigger one table sats.

2. If you buy in to multiple satellites will you get cash value if you place in multiple satellites or have already signed up for the wpt event?

Not sure, but it's very easy to sell the chips. In fact, I saw guys on Monday just standing next to the cashiers and exchanging their chips for the cash the players were giving to buy-in. Usually you need to ask the players before they give their money, but the cashiers were allowing this.

3. When is the last moment you can sign up for the 5k buy in tournament (the day before/ week before)? As in do these things fill up quickly or do they wait for as many players as possible to sign up.?

Don't know for sure but I would assume with high probability that it's right up until it starts and probably even during the first level or so. If you'll be there during the week it won't be any problem at all.

The bike has an entire NL section. Great action. I've played in the $200 (2/5) max buy-in and 300-500 (5/5) buy-in tables. The Commerce has similar structures with lots of NL games spread. During the day the play is fairly tight, nothing like online, but at night things usually loosen up quite a bit. I think you'll enjoy it. However, when you play 4 tables I assume you play very tight (VPIP of 12-18%). Of course you can do this here too, but it will be very boring and you'll need to stop the urge of playing more hands.

5. Anybody willing to meet up and talk poker/drink and help me with the goings on in that area?

I might play some events next week. Feel free to PM with your cell #. I assume you mean to meet up at the Bike.

>> PS- I plan on bringing about 8k for Poker (should I bring more/less).

Depends on how well you do. You can win/lose quite a bit of money fast in the $300/500 NL game and if you want to play the $5k event you better do some winning if you are going to be playing all week.

BTW, the area where the Commerce is located (and the Bike for that matter) is not particularly nice -- both the Bike and Commerce are very classy and safe -- so don't plan on doing anything around the Casinos. I assume you have a car and it's only 30 minutes or so to get to the nice part of town. Santa Monica is west of the Commerce and Manhattan Beach is pretty much west of the Bike. If you PM me I can give you directions or I'm sure the folks at your hotel can help out.
