Just friggin awesome

I didn't go to sleep until 3:30AM'ish, having to wake up at 9. That was probably the only suck part of the day.

Signed into my room, got the room key, all that fun stuff. Hmm, ice cream social at 8:30? Okay.

There is always a certain dorm at a university that's about half decent cool kids and half "interesting" kids. This is my dorm, since it's the honors dorm. It's been a real interesting day, with meeting so many different people coming from all sorts of different backgrounds. Insane.

Most of the afternoon I hung out with some people from my HS before my roommate came in (he was rushing, and yeah I'm not) that evening. We managed to get back just in time for the ice cream social, which was gaaaay. Not surprising given the kind of people in the dorm. Kinda "let's get to know everyone", I guess.

And then I went back to my room and took a nap before my roommate showed up. We had traded e-mails, and he seemed like a cool guy.

Now that he's here, the guy is awesome. Frat guy into religion, always the center of the conversation. He introduced me to a lot of women. Already he has made a nice impression, hah.

Only 5 more days until classes start. This rules. Hard.

*was* a PSUer. Basically flunked out last year so instead of paying $30K to jerk off I'm coming home and taking classes for $8K a year instead. I wish I could have last year back [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

Well, that's good that you're having fun in the dorms. I personally need my privacy, and those two years in the dorms were just not fun for me.

Also, my school had a 10:1 male:female ratio, so that contributed to the shittiness too.

words of advice.

1) consider joining a frat. then becoming an officer...president. it makes you really understand things about yourself you never did or thought possible before. it also ingrains charater and honor. not to mention awesome parties and women.

2) only skip classes as, uh, well...try not to but its gunna happen a LOT.

3) experiment within bounds. dont take everything to its addictive conclusion. personally ive never done coke or any hard drugs but experimented a lot w/ women and shrooms etc..

4) talk to alumni from your school who studied in different areas to get an idea where the best TEACHERS are. its from the best teachers that you will get the best education. (this is also where a fraternity helps b/c your elder brothers will know this stuff.)

4a) do as well as you can b/c you'll wish you did.
5) excersize regularly.

6) thats all i can think of for now...BUT YOU BETTER EFFING ENJOY THIS SH*T

That's awesome. Have lots of fun.

3 rules I learned:

1) There are only two reasons to stay up late: You're getting laid or you are out drinking with friends.

2) You don't need to pass with the highest marks... a 3.0 is generally good enough for any company you want to work for. Ignore this if you are thinking of doing graduate school immediately after.

3) Last, but not least. If you aren't wasted... the day is.

wait till you have the " we are going to watch movies and smoke pot all day" marathon. Thats next saturday. Couple of years from now, you will have the "im only drinking screwdrivers" semester. Let me know how that works out....

I'm 40, and never went to college. My father and brothers, the Working Class Heroes, assured me that I didn't need it.

It's been uphill ever since.

Please post regularly about the crap like ice cream socials, and slutty co-eds. Some of us wouldn't mind the vicarious thrill.

Speaking on behalf of 32 year-olds with kids everywhere, we hate you because we are jealous of your youth.

Have a good time, all the time. There is time enough for figuring out what you want to do with the rest of your life. You need to figure out who the hell you are first, and you need to experience as many different things as possible to do so.

Oh, and nail anything with a heartbeat. You are spending the next four years in the easiest singles bar you'll ever see.

Seconded.

Also, get involved. Not necessarily as a frat officer as suggested above, but do something. Find some sort of club or organization and at least join in on them. Most of my most memorable experiences and best friends from college were made that way.
