I love Diet Caffeine Free Soda cause I can drink as much as I want without consuming a boatload of calories. The new Diet Coke w/Splenda and Coke Zero are pretty good too

My thoughts exactly. Really if any of you see this and think diet soda sucks, you really should give it a try.

Fresca rules. Ignore the haters. I've been drinking that stuff forever and I didn't know until recently that it was zero-calorie.

I assumed this would be the case, purchased some, and was chagrined to learn that the soda of which you speak is unbearably sweet. It tastes like a melted popsicle.

So, I returned to my dark overlord, Diet Coke with Splenda. I hope in ten years it doesn't turn out that this stuff makes you grow two heads.

I don't like it that much either. Diet Coke with Splenda is decent though. I think it tastes remarkably like regular Coke, but the woman adamantly disagrees with me...bah.

Trust me just this once. Try the stuff. It is the nicest pick-me-up eva. The bottle looks less gay now and you can buy it in gallon plastic jugs at the grocery store. I bought 6 gallons today. I love the stuff.

Are we 100% certain that Splenda doesn't kill us yet? How long has it been around?

We are not 100% certin, but it is healthier for you than Aspertene by a mile, and slightly healthier for you (asuming you don't digest too much because Sucralose overdose in the form of sugar alcohols can cause softening of the stool) than Sweet & Low.

PS: They have now proven that Sweet & Low does not cause cancer in lab mice.

It was first approved for use in Canada (where it has sometimes been marketed as Splendar) in 1991. Subsequent approvals came in Australia in 1993, in New Zealand in 1996, in the United States in 1998, and in the European Union in 2004. As of 2005, it has been approved in over 40 countries, including Brazil, China, and Japan.

Since its really a form of sugar, does it promote tooth decay?

Nah, but the maltodextrin in each packet will. (Each packet has 4 calories BTW)

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, last night my local Kroger had 2L for $0.50 each. I bought the 4 they had left.

When this stuff isn't on sale, I actually buy "Diet Citrus Drop". It's the Kroger brand, and it's cheaper than their bottled water (which is a little disturbing).

It tastes just like Diet Mountain Dew. I couldn't find a picture, but on the side of the bottle, instead of "Do the dew" it says "Pop the drop." It's awesome.

Yeah, I tried Diet Dr. Pepper for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It tastes almost identical to regular Dr. Pepper, but the slight difference in taste makes it a little better, IMO. The diet stuff is a little smoother than the regular stuff. Usually diet drinks have a chemically aftertaste, Diet Dr. Pepper doesn't have this at all.

I like the Kroger brand diet soda. I regularly buy the cola, dr. pepper clone, and the pink lemonade. Can't beat it at 1.50-2.00 per 12-pack.
