Most Brutal movie ever made in terms of violence?

This is the reason I watch bad horror movies these days, to find out if it's possible to set a new bar for what I consider brutal (gore and twistedness). The thing is, I'm not really sure which movie is the most wretched. I just watched Hellraiser and that was pretty bad, especially because it's from the 80s. I think my vote goes to House of 1000 corpses; also, for those of you who have seen High Tension, I thought that movie may have had the most disturbingly realistic brutality.

Name some others?

High Tension was such a piece of [censored]. Garbage ending.

Ending sucked but the whole movie before that was pretty intense, especially the house seen at the start.

Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer had some really disturbing scenes.

One of those collegehumor.com type of websites had a trailor for a Japanese movie that was nothing but chainsaws and slaughters and such. Seemed fun. It's probably still up on one of those sites, I just don't remember which one.

Although it's a comedy, for gore it's tough to beat:

(Also "Audition" by the same director). The thread is over. Trust me.

Audition sucked, too. It wasn't that disturbing either. Try the Guinea Pig series or something.

That asian movie with the girl torturing those guys. I have no idea of the name but it's extremely distrubing.

I don't think there is any other movie out there that I love and hate at the same time quite like this one.

That was an awesome line. Good post.

Sounds like Audition minus the extremely disturbing part. I don't think any gory movies have been to disturbing or scary to me at all. Real vids are, though. That Russian soldier video scarred me for life.

Yep, good one. I heard of this japanese film about wartime experiments on cats and people that was rumored to be actual footage. Sounds pretty horrific, but it's title escapes me...

Not a horror film, but Richard Widmark as Tommy Udo in Kiss Of Death(1947). Ties up an old lady in a wheelchair with a lamp cord and pushes her down a flight of stairs. At the time it was the cruelest scene ever in an American movie.

Irreversible, and its not close.

If the fire extinguisher scene at the beginning wasnt enough, the 9 minute all-one-shot rape scene should clinch it...

Re: Most Brutal movie ever made in terms of violence?

Everyone brought up some really famous violent movies already. It depends if you want a realistic or fun-gore movie.

Realistic would be like Irreversible with the famous fire estinguisher head bashing scene until you can see his brains and his eye balls hanging out, plus that extended rape scene.

You can try Audition or Ichi the Killer. Both are japanese movies. You can see violent scenes like a girl using piano wire to slowly saw through a guys ankle while he screams, a close up of someone cutting off his tongue with a knife, a guy hanging by his skin thats hooked up by wires while a guy pours hot oil over his wounds, a guy shoving a skewer into his ear drum, shoving it through a doods chin, shoving it through his cheeks, etc etc. Pretty depraved stuff.

Or you can try Evil Dead for fun gore and lots of zombie killing. I heard it still holds the record for most fake blood ever used in a movie.

The correct answer can only be
"The Story of Ricky"

Some guys at Georgia Tech hosted a "Story of Ricky" showing on a big screen in one of the auditoriums (like $5 admission or something for a charity raffle).

It is the most violent-gory-hilarious movie I've ever seen.

Disclaimer: I've never seen it so you can judge my entry with that in mind. I've read descriptions of the movie. While it supposedly makes a very stark anti-fascist statement, it sounds unwatchable.

I was actually thinking of this one too.

I haven't seen it, but from what I understand, "The Passion Of The Christ" might be a clear winner here.

I recently saw The Devils Rejects. That was pretty gory, but im sure it doesnt match all these other movies mentioned. It didnt waste any time with nudity however, about 10 seconds in some naked chick is being dragged across the ground. Yea, it was pretty messed up $hit.
