Roll call

I thought that this would clean up the forum a little bit, and give people a place to vent in one thread:

I'm playing badly, can I start a thread for that?

Re: Roll call

Where's the option between 'average' (~EV) and 'breakeven'??

I would've picked bad but it looks like you want that to mean worse than breakeven.

Re: Roll call

everyone else seems to. so maybe i should make another poll, possibly in this post, saying "how are you playing?"

hm.

I had the most unusual thing: a breakeven streak. From 17th of july till yesterday i never had a day where i won or lost more than 600 a day (some days i played 40 215's).

hot. 15 pt bb.

Superfluous Man 08-04-2005 11:24 AM

Re: Roll call

I was running really hot for about 100 sngs or so. My last 30 or so (due to me playing while tired, playing like a donk, catching a few bad beats [omg rigged], and losing coinflips [for a while it seemed like TT was an 80/20 favorite over AKo]) I've been running colder.

Nothing threadworthy though, either way.

I would say:

Real hot: 30+% ROI
Hot: 20+% ROI
Average: 5+% ROI
Breakeven: -5 to 5% ROI
Bad: -15+% ROI
So bad I want to make a thread about it: Worse than that

The last two are much more subject to opinion I think.

Edit: and also of course those numbers are effected by buyin level and skill level and whether the site is rigged.

Re: Roll call

After a seemingly forever streak of breakeven (ok like one week or so) I busted out with a 2nd in a 315 person MTT and have been red hot in SNG's since. It seems when I'm a 40-60 on a called steal I really have a 70-30 my way.

Freudian 08-04-2005 11:39 AM

Re: Roll call

Define lately.

I ran well for all of July but have lost 3 buyins after returning from my vacation (ie the last 3 days).

HighestCard 08-04-2005 12:02 PM

Re: Roll call

I'm in the middle of a 22 buy in downsizing over 5 days so far. Half of it in the 22's, and then I stepped down to the 11's and lost the other half. It feels as if I've forgotten how to play, but when I look at hand histories I'm having correct pushes into monsters every time. I'll just have to wait it out I guess.

Past 180 at the 22's : Break even.

DrPhysic 08-04-2005 12:04 PM

Re: Roll call

Well, my average runs about like my Enron stock, so break even would be nice!!!!!

Actually, running a little better than normal recently. Better game selection probably.

Re: Roll call

Don't think I'm playing significantly better than usual, but I'm certainly doing well. By Durron's numerical interpretation of the categories, I'd be "real hot".

Gah, A8 just flopped T88, turn was an 8 and villain pushed. I guess this example would suggest "massive heater;" perhaps solar flare-related. I've gone from break-even/losing to having a legitimate BR in about a week. It's odd how most people post about being dumbfounded by downswings whereas I'm at a loss to explain my upswing.

I'm breakeven now. I would guess around 50 SnGs in August. So it is not like I am in a panic.

So I guess I should vote that I am running pretty well since my last 500 has been with a 25% ROI.

I'm break even after my first 100 33s. Due more to me sucking than variance though.

Re: Roll call

So bad I want to make a thread about it.

Past few days:
-30.30% ROI over 30 SNGs
-12.46% ROI over 27 SNGs
-48.05% ROI over 28 SNGs

I looked over my notes from yesterday and saw I won 1 coinflip out of 16 on/near the bubble. Yeah.

Today it's been a bit more reasonable so far, let's hope it keeps up.
+23.38% ROI over 14 SNGs, with more 2nd places than 1st and 3rd.

YourFoxyGrandma 08-04-2005 01:30 PM

Re: Roll call

After a hot streak at the 33s, I moved up to playing a mix of 55s and 100s for 65% ROI and 75% ROI respectively.

So yeah. Pretty average, I'd say.

Re: Roll call

Solar-flare heater a week ago at the $11s, jumped 15 buyins in 15 games . Because I had already been winning there from before, I decided to try the $22s.

Arctic-chill cold streak at the $22s , dropped 10 bi in 45 games, 60/40 was not in my corner and neither was 50/50.

Licked my wounds and dropped back to the $11s: +$13 after 27 games.

Re: Roll call

I think we could call this Real Hot:

Last 46 SNG's (15-1 and 20-2's)

58.2% ROI
50% ITM

1st 17.4% 8
2nd 28.3% 13
3rd 4.3% 2
4th 0.0% 0
5th 15.2% 7
6th 15.2% 7
7th 4.3% 2
8th 10.9% 5
9th 2.2% 1
10th 2.2% 1

Re: Roll call

Super heater. Over my last 120, +48% ROI.

Of course, since reading your OP, I've been OTM my last 2, losing all-in AQ vs A7 and AK vs. KJ.

Once you start talking about being in The Zone, you have taken the first step in coming out of it!

Re: Roll call

Well, since my laptop was stolen a couple of weeks ago and I lost all my result-tracking spreadsheets for anything prior to July, I see that I'm at a whopping 5.5% ROI on my last 80 STTs. that includes dropping 12 buy-ins over my last 20 games and the (statistically) worst bad beat I've taken yet in a STT - I lost as a 93% fave pre-flop. but hey, who's complaining

It's still better than a negative ROI.

92% is kiddie pool stuff. I lost with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] vs A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] when I went all in and was called on a J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] flop yesterday.

I did manage to win with A2 vs AA when HU to win a SnG today so there is some balance in the universe.

bluewilde 08-04-2005 04:08 PM

Re: Roll call

Yeah, I've gradually reordered my definition of a bad-beat.

Total n00b (last october):

K2 vs. J7 (wtf I had a better hand)

But I lost enough times in this situation to know better. Then I got to

Still n00b (this spring):

KQ vs. K3 (you idiot! I had you dominated)

But damn, that loses like a third of the time , so I evloved further.

Starting to figure things out (beginning of the summer):

QQ vs. QJ (OMG I can't lose!)

But this didn't hold up a fair amount too, so I got to this:

Jaded and Bitter

KK vs. AA on KK2 flop

or

AA vs. JsTs on AAKs flop.

So that's my current definition. A bad beat occurs only when your opponent needs the turn and the river to be two specific cards. I think that's about the only time I get pissed off now.

So badly that I wanna make a thread about it.

Over my first 201 tournaments($11s), my ROI is -8%. I might be running bad, but I probably just suck

OMG, I am on a super heater. About damn time. My last 49 sngs, up 8265. Played 100 hands of 15/30 tonight, up 2123. I could use a couple more weeks like this.
