Jethro Tull
Legit rock band or a novely act with a flute?
Just saw they are on the "Tunica circuit" in a month or so. |
Re: Jethro Tull

Re: Jethro Tull
very legit rock band
|
Re: Jethro Tull
jethro tull was the inventor of the cotton gin.

Re: Jethro Tull
legit, but obviously when they are playing casinos it is a sign they are past their time. Tunica is a big step up from county fairs though, so they probably have some life left. Yes, I saw REO Speedwagon at Cheyenne Frontier Days.

Re: Jethro Tull
If winning a heavy metal Grammy isn't a sign of rock legitimacy, then I don't know what is. "Pop Flautist" also sounds like it would be a good name for a gay porn star.

Re: Jethro Tull
Well, Tunica did pull in Sugar Ray which surprised me - they're only live 5 years removed from fame. And I was actually impressed that Loggins and Messina needed 2 18 wheelers to carry their stuff this weekend. They must be putting on bigger/better shows than I thought.

I saw 'em in '99 in portland and they [censored] rocked.

Re: Jethro Tull
I saw them live on the Thick as a brick and Passion Play tours back in the 70's. They were selling out the LA Forum multiple nights so they were definately legit. Tull was a great rock band back then, don't know about nowadays.

jethro tull was the inventor of the cotton gin. [/ QUOTE ] Mmmm, cotton gin. |
Re: Jethro Tull
The lead guy (forgot his name) also rules at salmon farming.
Also, I believe they must have a record for number of people who have been members over the years... |
Re: Jethro Tull
He is also a cat enthusiast. Quite the renaissance man.

Re: Jethro Tull
Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin. Not Jethro Tull

Re: Jethro Tull
I haven't listened to Jethro Tull in a long time, but I have some CD of The London Symphony (or some famous symphony) playing a bunch of Jethro Tull's hits. I doubt that a symphony would waste their time with a novelty act. Jethro Tull is solid. Thick as a Brick was one of my favorites.
I remember back in the day, when people ask me what I was listening to, and I replied, 'Jethro Tull'. They would say, 'Oh, you mean the guy that plays the flute?'. |

[ QUOTE ] In the shuffling madess of the locomotive breath, runs the all-time loser, headlong to his death. He feels the piston scraping -- steam breaking on his brow -- old Charlie stole the handle and the train won't stop going -- no way to slow down. He sees his children jumping off at the stations -- one by one. His woman and his best friend -- in bed and having fun. He's crawling down the corridor on his hands and knees -- old Charlie stole the handle and the train won't stop going -- no way to slow down. He hears the silence howling -- catches angels as they fall. And the all-time winner has got him by the balls. He picks up Gideons Bible -- open at page one -- old Charlie stole the handle and the train won't stop going -- no way to slow down. [/ QUOTE ] |

This thread caused me to listen to Aqualung on the way in to work, and reminisce about seeing them at the SF Civic Auditorium many years ago. It was funny riding BART after the show - bunch of broke college kids, the old-hippie-burnout Tull fans, and the yuppies fresh out of Les Mis. Not much conversation going on there... |
