5-5 w deepstacks...opinions needed.

Player A is a solid LAG...Player B is a solid TAG

Donkey (4k) opens UTG for 25 with AQo. Player A (5k) makes it 85 from UTG+2 with AcAs. Player B (10k) calls from the cutoff with 10h10c.

Flop Qd-Jd-10s

Donkey bets $100, player A raises to $350, player B calls, and donkey folds.

Turn 7c (Qd-Jd-10s)

check, check

river 7s (7c-Qd-Jd-10s)

player A bets $600. Player B calls.

What do you think of both Player A and B's play of this hand?

Turn check is not good i think. I dont think villain with set of tens feels that comfortable on such a board. I lead pot on turn.

Can't believe A checks this turn.

Why not....Is that really bad?

I think not raising the river is ridiculous.

What is wrong with checking the turn? I think betting it would be atrocious for play A. The guy in the cutoff called 85 cold preflop, and then $350 on the flop, what range of hands do you put him on at this time? I believe player A should have check folded the river, unless villain is a complete donkey.

Because B could have anything, too often I don't bet this turn and then get stuffed on the river when they get there, or I just don't know, and end up calling. You bet the turn you know exactly what's up. Just my thoughts... He could have a set, the nuts, a diamond draw due to his loose nature...gotta bet I think... I used to be a notorious turn checker....

Player B is not loose...He is a TAG which was a major factor in my checking. when he coldcalled my raise on the flop i put him on AK and i was prepared to fold to a turn bet.

Okay the cats outta the bag....i'm player A....I was seriously suprised by player B's passive line but i think it got the max outta me. I asked him why he did not raise the river and he told me because he figured i would fold any hand he could beat (except of course i would not have folded AK)....he was right.

If Player B raises the river, i (player A) might be able to fold AK which is the best hand that player B beats....Maybe not, but i'm definitely folding anything weaker than AK

i was just about to post and say that i felt player A played his hand perfectly on all streets.. so i think you did fine aggie.
i think the other guys only mistake is not making a small raise on the end to try to squezze out some value.

I think it's a profitable raise against AK particularly if player A knows you will raise in chop situations.

yeah, as played, I'm not sure I agree with the raising the river thing, because the problem is that a real raise (to around ~$2400) pretty much pot commits B to a reraise (and folds worse hands).....a min. raise is a fun option on the river.....BUT, to me it's moot because I think player B should've bet the turn.....incidentally, I also don't think player A should've raised the flop when led into.....think of how the hand changes if A just flat calls the flop bet.....

A played well, B played well until the river.

I would consider changing my description of player B to tight/passive or weak/tight. Does he usually play with a deep stack? Maybe shifts into ultra-conservative mode to protect a deep stack?

i would never change my description of somebody based on 1 hand....I was suprised he played his hand this way. And yes, he always plays with a deep stack
