How Fast Do You Read?
This is easy to find out, take a book find words per line, lines per page, do some multiplication to find out how many words per page there are. Read for a few minutes, find out how far you got and how many words per minute (WPM) you read. Average is about 250 WPM I think.
I read about 350 less when I'm not concentrating, maybe more like 450 when I'm really in the zone (don't lose any comprehension when I'm into a book and reading faster). |
Re: How Fast Do You Read?
took me about 15 seconds to read this post if that helps.
not sure how to easily know the number of words on a page in a book without actually counting them out... am i missing something ? edit: nevermind i see you're assuming the amount of words per line is the same every line. gotcha. |
Re: How Fast Do You Read?
I was about 550. I think you need more categrories above 500, as I don't consider myself *that* fast a reader.

Re: How Fast Do You Read?
too late now, people above 500 just say what WPM you are (it will be interesting to see who the people are that get above 500 WPM anyway). smiley how do you read that fast? that is prtty darned fast

Re: How Fast Do You Read?
722 WPM
Test yourself here... EyeQ I thought this Infomercial was BS, then we used this program in my Educational Psychology class in college. I was amazed at how much my reading speed and retention improved. Big Steve |

I managed to improve from 531 to a whopping 532. Oh, the great achievements I could make if I actually purchased their product.. (they should have a minimum improvement figure for that line to come up, I think

Re: How Fast Do You Read?
Thats a pretty neat little webpage.
I have learned a little speed reading back in the day. I can read something like 650 before and 900 after the tests. I think my normal reading when speed reading is around 700 when i do it alot. [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Kasey [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] |
Re: How Fast Do You Read?
That test is BS. Before: 601, after: 704. My "true" reading speed is no where that fast.

Re: How Fast Do You Read?
hey you 500+ WPM readers could you comment a little on how you read that lets you go that fast? een when i'm reading groups of words i still think it's only like 400 WPM, do you read whole sentences at a time? never regress? very curious about this, appreiate all comments

Re: How Fast Do You Read?
At the test I was trying. I just went as fast as I could without thinking about it. No idea if I have a special technique.
At one point in the preparation exercises they kept showing one sentence at a time, very rapidly. Anyone able to read the whole story? I caught some sentences, but couldn't even summarize the story. |

Re: How Fast Do You Read?
Are those EyeQ scores accurate? I'm guessing not. Mine was 865 when I read every word and over 1900 when I did a speedread.

I was amazed at how much my reading speed and retention improved. Big Steve [/ QUOTE ] well I suck, but I already knew that. Thankfully, the EyeQ exercises increased my speed from 300 WPM to 303 WPM. I think my problem is I have to think too much in order to comprehend what I'm reading before I move on. I could read the words a whole lot faster, but I would get nothing from what I read. |
Re: How Fast Do You Read?
how does everyone's speed not vary wildly with circumstance?
|
Re: How Fast Do You Read?
anybody else tried this Eye Q thing all the way through, or have any links to actual controled studies done with it?
