Party - 81K players. First time I\'ve seen it that high.

Maybe it's been there before, but I thought it might be a first.

Excellent. Stars is at 59k right now, not too shabby.

I wonder if we'll see 100k once this year's WSOP broadcast hits full swing.

to more seriously answer the question.....i think the TV advertising has picked up some...as well as all the re-runs of the new WSOP-circuit episodes with all those partypoker.net commercials.

I don't know though, the table averages weren't that fantastic. At least at my limits (3/6 sh lhe, and $100 6 max nl).

Poker has hit UK terestrial now (11.30 ITV) and I think that will be helping :d

To be fair, TV poker was on UK terrestrial TV quite a bit before this boom, with Late Night Poker in the late 90s and early 00s on C4... It was better than this ITV stuff too :]

Never been as mainstream though. 11:30pm on ITV 5 days in a row

I would expect it to improve the numbers at euro peak times though rather than peak US times.

i'd be interested to see the viewing figures as LNP regularly pulled in 1M viewers, I can't see this show on ITV getting that many (I haven't actually seen it yet, though).

Also there was no internet poker in the late 90s.

Wasn't Planet Poker and a couple others around from ~97? I know that Stars & Party were both 2001, but there were definitely other sites around beforehand....

81k players - includes play $$ players for sure
BUT if I'm 4 tabling ring games do I get counted as 1 or 4 players in their totals.??
IOW is the 81k 81k log-ons or 81k seats taken???

I believe it's accounts logged in. So if you're 8-tabling, you're 2 players, not 8. Could be wrong.

Re: Party - 81K players. First time I\'ve seen it that high.

If this is true then I've added 4 players to the total without playing a hand in like a week. I'd guess that the actual number of real money players was around 15-20k

So you think the average player is playing 4 tables?

Alpha13 07-29-2005 01:24 PM

Re: Party - 81K players. First time I\'ve seen it that high.

As mentioned earlier the number of tables you have open has nothing to do with it, I have 4 skins open. I'm asssuming around 60k play money players and 10% pros (of the real money games) who have several skins open

Datamining?

Alpha13 07-29-2005 05:16 PM

Re: Party - 81K players. First time I\'ve seen it that high.

Yes but going a week without playing (and only datamining) is not normal for me, I had a strange cable connection issue which coincided with party's server problems. So it took a while before I figured out why the games were unplayable.

Are you guys saying that the number of users are the number of people at a table, therefore the mutil-tablers are inflating the number of people at the site?

I would think the number of users online are individual users regardless of how many tables they have running.

No, they are saying if they are logged onto Party playing four tables they are seen as one player. If they then log onto Empire (while staying connected to Party) they are seen as two players.

No, the number of tables is a real number. The number of players are the seats being filled at those tables.

Rainbow Warrior 07-29-2005 08:18 PM

We still have no definate answer here - try this

Right now - Party - 62k players - 8,200 tables I'm presuming the 62k is Party plus skins

About 7.5 players per table

If there were 62k logged on averaging 2 tables each that wiuld be 15 per table - uh NO!

So if the 8,200 tables in play is accurate then presumably the 62,000 is TOTAL SEATS OCCUPIED making actual players involved (total logged on at Party plus all skins) something like 25,000 to 35,000.

Make sense???
