As of today I am no longer playing another hand of 2-4 or 3-6 again. I have been 8 and 12 tabling these limits on autopilot for to long and I do not want to stunt my growth. I am now going to make my way to the 15-30 and higher games. Last week I hit my 800,000 hand of 2-4 and I have decided enough is enough.

I have been in my comfort zone for to long and it is time to move on. The reason I have stayed at these limits for so long is because the competition is so soft and I have not needed to really work on my game to have a good winrate.
Very rarely am I ever put in a tough spot and it is time to say goodbye to ABC poker. For some reason I have no problem hopping into a game of 15-30 at a live casino but online all I ever want to do is 2-4 and 3-6.


I am going to start at the 5-10 4 tabling and move up to the next limit after I have hit 100K hands at that limit and have a winrate I am happy with.

I will not stop playing the 5-10 until I have hit 100K hands, it doesn't matter if I am winning at 2BB/100 or losing at -2bb/100 Once I have hit the 100K mark I will re-evaluate at that point. I figure this should take me 2 1/2 months to accomplish playing 4 tables.

I mean, I'm not saying you're a nit, or anything,

800K!!!!! Playing 50K hands a month, which is probably the most I can see anyone playing, means you've been playing for 16 months...




That's 5 times as long as my poker career.



On another note, your bankroll is big enough for 15/30 now, so if you think you can handle it,


and I think you can,



You should take a shot.


Be warned though, that I took a shot with 10K, and lost 1.2K after a few thousand hands and quit.

The highest hands I have put in in a month is 102k, that is when i started 12 tabling. I have been playing for a living since Decmber and had been playing online as a hobby about a year prior to that, before that it was B & M for years

my thoughts exactly right when i read his post.

I'm assuming that by moving up to 5/10 you are referring to the full tables.

if you are serious about improving your game you would be MUCH better off with 100k hands of 3/6 and 5/10 6-max.

5/10 full won't get you very far in terms of game improvement (especially if you just continue to 8-table).

the fact that you don't find any tough decisions on the 2/4 full-tables just means you are playing THAT much on auto-pilot. Thinking poker-players find interesting decisions on various hands every day. ("should I value bet?? or can I induce a bluff-stab at it and get in a check-raise?" stuff like that)


If you are serious about wanting to beat the 15/30 games (or the 20/40 games which I believe are even better than the 15/30 games now although I'm not playing either currently) then you should REALLY play some 6-max.

If you went over to the mid-high forum and said ' hi, i'm decent over my 9-zillion hands of 2/4 full. what should i do in my current plan to become a successful 15/30 player in the future?' I believe they would not-quite-unanimously tell you, "Learn to beat the 5/10 6-max games."

i'm on a semi-similar quest in that I've decided 'enough of this horsing around. i want to get better and move up in limits.'
i have problems motivating myself to play as much as i should be sometimes though....which obviously is a problem that you don't have!! (800k hands?? golly!!!)
