Party $.50/1.00 stud hand
I dusted off my Party bankroll at some point last year. They have given me a $20 bonus which I can keep if I play 200 raked hands by Friday. In order to accomplish this, I'll probably have to play two tables of hold'em. Either that or skip Tower of Power on Friday, and I don't see that happening. Anyway, I've played a couple of interesting hands, so I thought I'd share:

I didn't realize that they have a $16 ante [/ QUOTE ] That would freakin' rule. As for the hand, I'll say villain made another club flush. |
Re: Party $.50/1.00 stud hand
That would be an interesting structure. Can you imagine a 10-20 game with a $320 ante

Re: Party $.50/1.00 stud hand
Geez, I'd have jammed the pot way more in such an overanted game. (Sorry, bad joke, but the "$16 ante" in the converter made me chuckle.)
Fourth street is interesting and screams "four-flush" to your opponents if they're thinking. This suggests to me that this play was made more for immediate equity than for other reasons. Given how improbable AAA is for villain, that makes sense to me. Also, sometimes people, especially $.5/$1 players, get scaaaaaared for no good reason... I guess you're up against nothing better than one pair often enough to get some free cards and such too. Don't see any reason to get fancy on 5th or 6th, so good calls. I'd be shocked if the river 3bet weren't completely mandatory. I suppose you're mostly asking about fourth street here, and I think the raise was good. Against some opponents it might effectively flip your hand over, but here I think you have enough pot equity, I don't think they're folding, and you benefit from swelling the pot. All hail Andy B. |

Isn't there some rule about you can't put a .5/1 player on a thought?

I hate those hidden full houses. Plus, all of his cards are duplicated somewhere. Thankfully, it doesn't happen very often.

Re: Party $.50/1.00 stud hand
How’s this. One of Andy’s opponents had “ante” in his screen name. The converter got confused and used that players stack size as the ante size.
I’ll take a look at the code later to see if I can fix this. Andy, don’t play with Seat 5 anymore. Re: sults
I found it unlikely that the guy with open Aces had trips, and fairly likely that he had very little underneath, so the raise on fourth was mostly for value. Since I was going to have position throughout the hand, barring some freakish occurrence, I thought it very likely that I'd be able to take a free card at some point if I wanted one. I don't think that the typical player at this level is going to know what I'm doing, and even if he does, so what? I'm getting more money in with a hand that should win a little more than its share.
I was a little hesitant in three-betting the river, and almost went for the over-call. This guy had just been calling along and then raised with a moderately junky board. In my experience, this often means a full house. As it turns out, he had two pair on fourth street and filled on the end. |
