What does this say for the state of poker?

Milwaukee's Best Light and Chris Ferguson?

They trying to trailer trash to play? No one else would do it?

Discuss.

Well...Beast is quite popular among the HS/college crowd (at least in my days) b/c it's cheap as hell. I prefer Natty, but oh well.

Well, how about they just figured they'd pick another beer and get paid shitloads to be sponsored by it, considering the WSOP is at least partially responsible for making High Life popular.

lol, nice one.

personally i hate milwaukee's best, and i find it humorous that they're trying to push "milwaukee's best LIGHT"
seriously... it's a cheap, sh***ty tasting beer that's good for one thing and one thing only - GETTIN F#*#ED UP.
so they're pushing the light version? what sort of niche are they aiming for? underage teen girls who can't handle the regular Beast?

and in regards to "why are they advertising this beer and not some other beer, are they aiming for trailer trash" etc etc... it's advertising. it's television. and that means that Milwaukee's Best offered ESPN more money than any other sponsor to advertise all over the WSOP. simple as that.

and before some troll asks: NOOOOOOOOOOOOO i don't have a friend who works at ESPN. so NOOOOOOOOOOOOO i cant verify this or post a xerox of the contract. but use your freakin head. it's business. TV is about money, and that's it.

Whoa buddy! Keep the common sense, think for yourself schtick to yourself.

LOL!

Just kidding, I am thinking the same thing quite often here, I do not read all msgs or anything so I am sure I miss a lot of their seemingly shallow low brow/IQ (take your pick) humor.

It's funny to me when one person shows up arguing about the stupidest shiite over and over, it's as if they have nothing else to do, and frankly they could use some self tweaking, not every idea or opinion needs to be SHARED.

Oh yeah, I like Miller High Life and MGD when I go for cheap beer, and that started well before the poker boom.
Old Swill commercials too? That beer is nasty!
Old Swill is nickname for Old Milwaukee.... It takes WARM even from a freshly opened ice colded can. Rather drink PBR!
Back in my college days the cheap barrels were Busch, and I don't think I've had it since, yuck.

I for one am sick of all the Beast bashing. When I used to drink it in college it said right on the can that it was a premium beer. A PREMIUM BEER. How can you argue with that?

The past few years it's been Miller High Life, and Beast is owned by Miller Brewing Co.

Maybe they are just switching gears!

Nastiest tasting liquid I have ever consumed = Boh' Ice (or "Bob Ice" as I like to call it). PBR is great though... best of the cheap beers IMO.

He is refering to Natural Light though... I think it is a lowline Miller beer. I think that Natty Bo is brewed in Baltimore and is a local thing (could be wrong though).

Levitra sponsored the 2004 WSOP - does that mean they were hoping for more erections at the main event this year?

Of course, depending on whom you ask, there were arguably more pricks. But I digress.

I was pretty sure he was talking about National Bohemian, often referred to as Natty Bo, and when my friends were making fun of it, Nasty Bo.

For my money the king of all cheap bears was Goebels. Real horse piss but at 7 bucks a case, we developed a real taste for it. However, I was going to link to it for those who haven't heard about this fine fine brew, and after a brief search on the web I'm pretty sure it was made by the Stoh's brewery in Winson Salem, NC which is no longer in business.

So long Goebel's...you will be (sorta) missed.

When I was on spring break in Daytona my senior year in college, we stumbled upon beers called "Bridage" and "Brigade Light." We bought it for the sole reason that it was cheaper than the Beast. It tasted cheaper than the Beast. Throw a few Crsytal Burgers into the mix, and it was not a pleasant experience.

Re: What does this say for the state of poker?

Ah, the days of the red, white, and blue parties in college. Red = Beast regular
White = Beast lite
Blue = Beast ICE

The old "unleash the Beast commercials" were far superior to the current stuff.

Art Vandelay 07-28-2005 08:01 PM

Re: What does this say for the state of poker?

Apparently, as Beast is made by Miller just like High Life, they have determined that High Life brought in the 37 year old wife beaters and now they need to get in the underage drinking crowd.

I too enjoyed my Spring Break experience in Daytona. 5 years ago in fact. We watched Vanilla Ice play a free concert at Club 600 North. Everyone left once he played Ice Ice Baby. It rocked. Best week of my life.
