Fuk!!!

I've been playing poker for 11 months now. I'm a decent players and can raise a bank roll. My problem is I have problem keeping it. Lately I've lost my whole bank roll of 20k and now starting back at 1-2 and 50-1 NL. These guys down in these limits are bad. I can't beat them! No matter how much I study and play these players they're super draw out artist. You can't push them out of any pot if they're on a draw. They call raises with anything suited. You raise and get 10 guys calling and whoever hits the flop wins. Like a crap shoot. Anyone have any advice on playing these monkies. How did everyone start? some players said they started with 30 dollars and never deposited since.

Try playing titer. That way, it will lower your variance/swings.

In terms of bankroll mangagment, that is a tough one. I had problems with that earlier, but what helped me was to compute my hourly rate. Playing poker when you know your TRUE EXPECTED hourly rate makes you play better I think.

Good luck

Re: Fuk!!!

How can it be a bad thing if they are calling with draws when they do not have the proper pot odds? You WANT them to call. Think about it.

The Theory of Poker covers this fairly well when discussing the Fundimental Theory of Poker.

Playing tighter is wrong. If anything he should be playing looser verses poor opponents...

i read that before, it's great, but i just read it again and noticed this.

That should help you out. If that doesn't work, move up to the 75/150 game and play against Fossilman. He always folds J6 to a raise and never pays off with the second best hand, so you'll have no problem winning.

it's funny because that was written sometime in January 2004, before he won the WSOP. interesting.

Good Lord, how many times a day does this kind of post appear? The old, "I'm good, but everyone else sucks, and I can't beat bad players!" post.

How tiresome.

If you lost a bankroll of 20K, you are not a decent player. If you sunk below 400BB, you suck.

Can't we get a sticky written which will give guidelines so that trolls can write posts which are actually entertaining?

Know Small Stakes Hold 'Em out of your ass.

Suddenly, you'll come running to the loose games.

You guys don't understand I lost my bank roll at 25-50 not at 1-2. I honestly can't find my game at 1-2. I'm sure everyone has gone through this type of slump.

Re: Fuk!!!

Sorry to say but it's BS that you can be a consistent winner at high limits and not on the low limits, as stated in SSHE to name some. Maybe you were just running g00t.

I highly doubt you're a good poker player if you can't properly form a coherent sentence.

So how about this... when you put someone on a flush draw and the 3rd flush card hits, don't pay them off. It sounds like you have problems getting away from hands.

Furthermore, the nice thing about NLHE and even pot-limit and fixed-limit HE is that you can control the odds you're giving your opponents. If you can create situations where they're calling when they don't have the odds to, then you will make money in the long-run. Go read Theory of Poker. It's good.

Play tight, ABC poker. That's all you need to do to crush low limit games. I'm not kidding.

also, 20K isn't much of a roll to be playing 25-50 NL.

by looser, do you mean lowering your standards preflop or just chasing draws and paying with with TPMK like the other loose players do? or do you mean playing loose before the flop but outplaying if the flop gives you a lot of equity?

this post is incredible i love it

Re: Fuk!!!

i disagree. weaker players tend to play more hands, and if there are a lot of weak/loose players at the table, you need to play opposite of the table style, which in this example is likely to be loose. play tight and let them pay you off

Re: Fuk!!!

I play 25/50 and .5/1 and have been succesful so far. To me if your raises are being called by too many people raise less often and wait to raise pots with top hands 9-9 to AA, AK, and AQ suited (few more on the button).

Also, raise those 1x-2x the blind you are doing now. If they all still call and you miss the flop with your AK then just check down and fold to any bet that is half the size of the pot or larger. It's just not worth it.

If you have an AK and hit a flop with draws on it you have to bet the size of the pot and hope they drop. They won't ALWAYS draw out on you. They just won't.

The two quoted statements are mutually exclusive. Statement number one should read "I suck at poker".

Re: Fuk!!!

I mean you should exploit your small edges as your opponents will give you plenty of opportunities to take their money. You definately should still not be calling bets with a draw if you do not have the proper odds to continue.

Niediam 07-29-2005 01:47 PM

Re: Fuk!!!

If your opponents are playing weaker hands then your weaker hands become more valuable. For example...

If a tight player who only raises say AA-QQ were to raise then throwing away JJ would be automatic. But if a looser raiser who might raise with AA-77 and AK-AT raises then JJ is good enough to reraise.

Does that make sense?
