BMI is a flawed calculation since it doesn't take into account muscle mass.

Things like this are stupid because they dont take into account whether the weight is from muscle or fat. There are a lot of people who are 5'8", 180 who would be considered overweight according to this thing but actually have very little body fat

26 - slightly overweight.

I recently read an article in Scientific American about BMI. There's some scientists that question its usefulness, since it's basically an arbitrary measure designed by the US government. And, as other posters mentioned, it doesn't account for muscle mass/bone density. I mean, 50% of the NBA is considered obese.

I don't remember all the details, I think its from the May issue if anybody's interested in more.

I just did it and it told me 29, which means that I am nearly obese. I know I am fat, but there is no way in hell I am obese. I am 6'1" 220. When I used to run 70 miles/week, I was 185, which would put me at just under overweight according to this scale. MY % body fat then coudn't have been more than 7. Gimme a break. This thing is retarded.

This BMI calculator is utterly retarded.

I weight 191 and my ACTUAL BMI is around 13. But this website said it's 28. I am only 5'9". It does not take muscle into account. Sheesh.
