Vegas mid-range Eats
I am going to Vegas this week with a couple friends and I wanted to get one decent meal but one of my friends doesn't want to break the bank for a 50 dollar steak.
Can anyone make recommendations of good places with entrees more in the mid-$20 range? We are staying on the strip and don't have a car. Thanks. |
Re: Vegas mid-range Eats
Mon Ami Gabi is a French restuarant in Paris. great Steak Frites (steak and fries) for $20. it's a sirloin steak pounded thin. good steak, great value.
|
Re: Vegas mid-range Eats
The mexican place in Mandalay bay is goot.
|
Re: Vegas mid-range Eats
I second Mon Amis Gabi, at Paris - good stuff. I really like the steak frites.
If you want sushi, try Todai at Aladdin. It's buffet style, so that may not thrill. Red8 at Wynn was tasty Asian food. You won't come away stuffed, but the food is good. And the Wynn buffet is the best, in my opinion. There are plenty of great options in the mid-20/entree range. Check out The Trip Advisor forum for some other recommendations. Regards, T |
Re: Vegas mid-range Eats
A lot of the buffets in Vegas are between $20-30.

One of the guys I'm going with went to the paris brunch buffet and liked it a lot and I guess it was all you can drink champagne on top of all the lox and other good stuff. I also hear good stuff about the bellagio obviously. I have been to the rio and MGM buffets a while ago and was not all that impressed (though MGM did have lobster tails) |
Re: Vegas mid-range Eats
I was going to tell you to check out the Coyote Grill at the MGM but apparently it's gone. WTF?
|
Re: Vegas mid-range Eats
On wednesdays at joey bistro (on top of carriage house, on harmon next to the aladdin) they have prime rib, it's VERY reasonable and absolutely fantastic.

Re: Vegas mid-range Eats
I find the spice market buffet at aladdin's to be absoutely fantastic, go early and beat the rush though.

Re: Vegas mid-range Eats
I really like House of Blues (restaurant, not music hall) in Mandalay Bay. I also liked the food at Red 8 in Wynn (Asian/noodles), but it may be more generic than you're looking for - get the unfiltered sake if you go though!

[/ QUOTE ] I rate them thus: 1) Wynn 2) Paris - champagne only on Sundays, btw 3) Bellagio 4) Cafe Lago - Caesars 5) Aladdin I was not that thrilled with the Mirage and Bally's sucks ass by comparison to these. Also, Mandalay Bay was hugely disappointing. I want to try the new Treasure Island buffet, Dishes. Next trip, I guess. Regards, T |

If you like Indian food Gaylord (snicker) in Rio is very good.

The pasta to order is nice, the sushi to order is ok, but there's often a longish (by comparison) line. I thought the rest was standard vegas buffet. If I was in the neighborhood, and didn't want to make the walk to Mirage, I'd go back again. |

I think you can still get a giraffe for about $20 at the brew pub in the Riviera.

For $22, we got NO selection at all and half of the buffet was empty. May of just been a bad time (~ 1:30pm) |
Re: Vegas mid-range Eats
Mandalay noodle shop.
|
Re: Vegas mid-range Eats
One other thing.. possibly not exactly what you were looking for, but the Burger Bar at Mandalay Bay has awesome burgers, but is a bit pricey.. especially for a burger.

Re: Vegas mid-range Eats
Au contraire, officious one.
From the same linky: [ QUOTE ] More recently, to beg the question has been used as a synonym for "to raise the question", or to indicate that "the question really ought to be addressed". For example, "This year's budget deficit is half a trillion dollars. This begs the question: how are we ever going to balance the budget?" This usage is often sharply criticized by proponents of the traditional meaning, but has nonetheless come into sufficiently widespread use that it is now the most common use of the term. [/ QUOTE ] |

I really think Wynn wins out for selection, desserts and overall atmosphere. I ate in the atrium, which had actual daylight, so that was nice. I really don't like the Bellagio desserts. So sad. Avoid the Excalibur buffet at all costs!

I've heard people use "literally" to mean "extremely" a whole lot. "It's literally raining cats and dogs." That don't make it right. -Sam |
Re: Vegas mid-range Eats
Try 'Little Buddha' at the Palms. It was actually some of the best Asian food I've ever had. Crusted Scallops with the Palms' Roll was excellent.

Il Fornaio at NYNY (Italian) falls in your price range, and was very good when I went, but it's been awhile.

care to add to my vegas cheap list? [/ QUOTE ]Next to the Boardwalk, there's this place called "Mr. Hotdog". Oh, man. Mr.Hotdog is a double-edged sword, perhaps best avoided by Vegas novices. Mr Hotdog is the AJo of vegas eateries. If you stop by Mr.Hotdog at 5 in the morning, a little drunk and a lot tired, and order a hamburger, your conversation will go something like this: You: I'll have a burger. MrHD: Do you want cheese? You: Sure. MrHD: Do you want hashbrowns on that? You: Of course! MrHD: Do you want a fried egg on that? You: DEFINITELY! MrHD: And Jalapenos? You: THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING RESTAURANT EVER! But, uh, it's not the most amazing restaurant ever. You've been warned. -Sam |

Re: Vegas mid-range Eats
Highly recommend the Steak House at Circus Circus. Cheesy hotel but excellent restaurant. Make reservations. We go every year.
|
Re: Vegas mid-range Eats
Circus Circus steakhouse. Damage will be $30-40 after food, drink, tax and tip.
Outback steakhouse at Casino Royale. This is between Harrahs and Venetian. A meal, 32 oz beer, tax and tip will total $25 or so. Just don't expect it to be gourmet or anything. A little more expensive...Harrahs Range Steakhouse has entrees in the $25-35 range and include salad. When I went there, with wine, total cost per person after tax & tip was $60 each. Also, Lawrys is prime rib but runs about $40 after tax and tip. Re: Vegas mid-range Eats
If you're downtown, add Redwood Grille (in the California on Ogden). They have a Porterhouse Steak Special, for about $15 or so, and serve a decent piece of meat. Add a glass of wine and a tip, and you're well under $30. What sets this apart from many of the cheap steak deals in town is that the restauraunt has a very nicely decorated room, and they have a live pianist many nights, so you're getting restaurant quality at a bargain price.
Uptown, I've read good things about the Prime Rib Special at San Remo's coffee shop, but never tried it. |

Re: Vegas mid-range Eats
It'll push into the $30 area, but if you're downtown, the Binion's Ranch Steakhouse was terrific. Great view of downtown while you chomp down on massive cuts of meat.
Also, never been, but the main street station buffet downtown is supposed to be fantastic for the price (around 8 bucks) |
Re: Vegas mid-range Eats
Voodoo lounge (rio) has ~$30 steaks, but perhaps the best view of the strip...
