10/20 at the Borgata

Can someone provide a brief description of the game style vs. the 6/12? I've been consistently successful at the 6/12 and am likely going to try the 10/20 later this week.

Also, is this a time charge?

Thanks.

The game is pillow soft with lots of loose passive play. The time charge is $5 per half hour.

Just what I'm looking for!

Never played a time charge before, how does that work? Do you have to pay as soon as you sit down, or is it just on the next dealer push?

If you sit down and someone has already paid for your seat, you don't need to pay until the next dealer. And yeah, the game is really loose passive. Value betting is key in that game. Don't get cute and try to make people make smart folds.

Please excuse my ignorance on this, but does the time charge apply to Limit? I've never played at the Borgata and any previous references I've seen to time charges were for No limit. This is addition to the rake?

Limit games in AC starting at 10/20 have a time charge only. There is no rake in these games.

yes it apply's to limit, and it's instead of the rake. $5/player every dealer push (30 min) for 10/20.

Thanks for the replies. I've only played at Foxwoods and plan to go to AC next week. Just curious, has anyone done the math regarding rake vs. time charge?

To give you an idea of the competition at the Borg 10/20. The last time I was there, there was a fella in the seat next to me who would pick his cards up off the felt every hand. I reminded him to protect his hand but it didn't matter. I saw his hand almost every deal. He played about 75% of his hands, usually called down to the river and also loved to bluff raise the turn and river. When I sat down he had $400 in front of him, 2 1/2 hours later he was done and bought back twice for $100 more each time. Just be careful with that game during weekdays...lots of rocks. Stick to evenings and weekends and you should be fine. Good Luck.

It depends on your style. A time charge favors the aggressive, a rake favors the tight solid type.

Re: 10/20 at the Borgata

Many of the Borgata bigger games (40-80, 80-160, sometimes 20-40) use time pots. In this scenario, one person puts the time up for the entire table (in 40-80, that would be 80 total in a full game). Then the winner of the first two pots of a certain size (400 in this case) each pay half the time back to the person who put it up. This favors tight players as they will win fewer time pots and thus pay less time. Many times, total fish won't adjust their play at all for this. If it tightens the game, it usually reverts to normal time again.

Compared to Taj and Trop?

How do the 10/20 games at the Taj and Trop compare
to the 10/20 at the Borg as described here?

Re: Compared to Taj and Trop?

I was at the Trop a few weeks ago on a Friday night, and they only had 1 $10/20 and 1 $6/12 game running. I sat in the $10/20 game and it was ok. But I wouldn't make a judgment of this game based on 1 night. Point is, I'd rather play somewhere with several tables running than just 1 semi-decent table.

Re: Compared to Taj and Trop?

A Trop 10/20 I played in one Sat. afternoon was probably the best game I played in AC in six months. Too bad that it broke.

Re: 10/20 at the Borgata

A 10/20 game that is not soft is a rare thing to find, The Borgata included. Time charge is fine if you have a fast dealer. Not raking the pot speeds the game ever so slightly.
