WSOP Final Table: \"Official\" News, Results, and Discussion
A new World Series of Poker champion will be crowned when play resumes today at 4pm (Las Vegas time) at Binion's. The championship will be contested by eight "unknowns" and "bad boy" (or just misunderstood?) Mike Matusow.
Everybody will be a millionaire after this tournament. For the first time, everybody who made the final table will take home at least $1,000,000. Here are the payouts. 1st $7,500,000 2nd $4,250,000 3rd $2,500,000 4th $2,000,000 5th $1,750,000 6th $1,500,000 7th $1,300,000 8th $1,150,000 9th $1,000,000 Chip stacks are particularly even in the middle of the pack and the chip leader doesn't have nearly as commanding a lead as Greg Raymer had a year ago. Here are the seating assignments and chip stacks at the start of play. Joseph Hachem - $5,420,000 (seat 1) Andrew Black - $8,140,000 (seat 2) Tex Barch - $9,330,000 (seat 3) Daniel Bergsdorf - $5,270,000 (seat 4) Mike Matusow - $7,410,000 (seat 5) Aaron Kanter - $10,700,000 (seat 6) Brad Kondracki - $1,180,000 (seat 7) Steve Dannenmann - $5,460,000 (seat 8) Scott Lazar - $3,370,000 (seat 9)] |
Re: WSOP Final Table: \"Official\" News, Results, and Discussion
Anyone know any of these guys online handles? Matusow's are well-known to be MrPokeJoke on Stars and I think he is dill pickle on UB.

Re: WSOP Final Table: \"Official\" News, Results, and Discussion
Dynasty - what level/blinds do they start at today? (CP refuses to load for me here at work).
|
Re: WSOP Final Table: \"Official\" News, Results, and Discussion
About 40 minutes left of 10k Ante, 50k/100k blinds.
|
Start time for final table- 4 pm PDT, 7 pm PDT
So we don't get all of the questions again when CP doesn't have updates early on.
Unless Harrah's changes it, the cards will be dealt at 7:00 pm EDT (4 pm local) |

Very interesting story. Use the URL Instant UBB Code to post a link next time though.

Re: WSOP Final Table: \"Official\" News, Results, and Discussion
Can anyone point me to a good picture of the big-denomination chips used at the ME final table?
|
Re: Start time for final table- 4 pm PDT, 7 pm PDT
Is 4pm "local" vegas time, or 2+2 time?
Also, I know this has been asked before but I lost the link in the sea of wsop threads. What is the site which is providing the live coverage like Stars did last year? |
Please tell me you are kidding
Is 4pm "local" vegas time, or 2+2 time?
As to the other, I don't know who's providing "live" coverage. Card Player is blogging some hands- check their site and go to the WSOP live updates section |
Your timing is off

It's too late to buy in and sneak some souvenir chips into your stack. [/ QUOTE ] Damb, you got me I was just curious as to what the 50K chips look like. The text reports have described them differently so I don't have a good mental picture. Obviously, I'll see them on TV but the big denomination chips didn't get used (I don't think) until the ME so it'll be quite a few weeks until the later rounds make it to ESPN. |
Re: Start time for final table- 4 pm PDT, 7 pm PDT
www.gutshot.com will have a "virtual" final table (using pokerchamps software) as well as have their own audio stream with what has been announced as Hansen, Luske, Juanda, Seidel and Barry Martin of Gutshot.

But everything I have read, seen and heard since then has made me really like Mike and I am definitely pulling for him this year. At this point another amateur winning is not going to increase the pool of fish for anything except the WSOP qualifiers. Mike sometimes acts like an ass at the table, but its his way of needling people (and is a hell of a lot better than H-Dog's tactics). Mike is a pro who lets his emotions out a little too much and it is clear that others who know him understand this and that they generally feel he is a great guy. Even he and Raymer have become friendly this year after last years incidents, and Mike seemed genuinely disgusted about the play that took Raymer out. I guess this is a longwinded way of saying GO MIKE, show everyone that the pro's can still do it in the donkfest that is the ME. |

His tantrums this year appear to be self-depreciating caricatures of himself. He's taking on the "bad" guys and leaving the "good" guys alone. Unlike last year when he came off looking like a tool, this year he seems to be using his image as a weapon with a purpose. Gonna be an interesting final table with "The Mouth" there among the unkowns. Too bad his nemesis from yeaterday has packed it up but I'm sure Mike will find a new target. I'm pulling for Matusow here and looking forward to the ESPN broadcasts of the ME. |

Re: Another Andy Black story
Wow, it's obvious this guy can really play, but it's great to see someone who, like Greg Raymer, believes in treating opponents with the same respect he'd like them to show him. It would be great if he wins.

Re: WSOP Final Table: \"Official\" News, Results, and Discussion
It is fun rooting against villians. Matusow is great for the final table. Love him or hate him, at least he keeps things interesting.
9 no-names would be no good. |
Hendon mob coverage seems pretty detailed on every hand

Official "BIGUP!" to the Crazy Old-Bay swilling MD player!
We're all pulling for you back home Steve (not that he reads these forums! Heheh.) Feel the power of the stench! |
Re: WSOP Final Table: \"Official\" News, Results, and Discussion
I would really like to see these two as the final two. Can you imagine the banter then? Or even better, a fistfight.
THAT would make some serious entertainment. |

I'm pretty sure Gutshot is the only site giving this a go, as Pokerstars said they weren't going to do it this year.

Re: WSOP Final Table: \"Official\" News, Results, and Discussion
No one has said anything about Tex Barch (to my knowledge), but he seems to be the most solid player at the table.
I wouldn't be surprised if he wins. |

Re: WSOP Final Table: \"Official\" News, Results, and Discussion
I'm pulling for Black. Good story, sounds like a talented player and a nice guy. What more can you ask for?
Anyone else notice how his stack went from about $2 million at the start of yesterday to over $13 million at one point? Too bad he made that call with KJ vs. JJ at the end of the night, I guess Fillmaff got to him or something. I still like his chances though, he played very well yesterday. |

Re: WSOP Final Table: \"Official\" News, Results, and Discussion
John "Tex" Barch will be 2005 WSOP Champion.
He plays good but more importantly won't let the spotlight bother him and he has played in bigger plo and plh games for quite a few year. Nerves won't be a factor and I think we can count on a Mike Matusow blow up. I was there when he bluffed off a ton of money at the final table with 7-2 off. It will happen again. cheers. J.Brown |

If Matusow wins the ME:
What's the over under on how long til he is dead from raging parties and/or some other irate player giving him a beat down. I say 3 years. His drug dealer must be licking his chops. |

Well, at least the details aren't getting recorded incorrectly:
"Aaron Kanter doubles up He is all in against Greg Raymer with just QJ against Raymer's cowboys. He hits a heart flush on the river and is lucky to survive. |
