Vicky Coren and pocket AA in WSOP
She is a respected player in London, and said on TV that she would fold AA preflop early in the WSOP if faced with 3 all in bets infront of her....Is that a common opinion here?

Re: Vicky Coren and pocket AA in WSOP
This sort of question has been hashed over and over.
Everyone is drawing to beat you at this point. The players who call the all in are holding high premium's and are your biggest threat most likely. I'd only fold Kings in that spot, never Ace's. If they get cracked, well, somebody got lucky. If they don't? You get to play big stack poker for awhile. |
Re: Vicky Coren and pocket AA in WSOP
We'll never know, cause it doesn't look like she played this year (unless I spelled her name wrong).
If she didn't play its unlikely that she has enough TEV at the beginning of the tournament to fold a hand as good as AA. |
Re: Vicky Coren and pocket AA in WSOP
never - i think i might be favourite going in!!!! - it's WSOP - how many times will u have to get it all-in from behind ? - I'm in with AA with 8 all-ins ahead of me - absolutely without a pause, I'm not nearly good enough to think about doing anything else.

Re: Vicky Coren and pocket AA in WSOP
I appreciate its been flogged to death, being a dog against 3 players, giving edges time to accumulate etc. It might be smart for one of the best players in the tournament to lay AA down, but I just cant imagine any of the best players laying this down (on TV).

I was implying that without getting into a discussion about players named Phil.

Re: Vicky Coren and pocket AA in WSOP
Let's settle this once and for all.
If more than one player is all in in front of you and you have AA, you should fold. With more than one person you are probably not an 80% favorite anymore and you don't want to get your money in with less than that. After all, don't you want to hang out at the WSOP for as long as you can? |
Re: Vicky Coren and pocket AA in WSOP
I suppose what Im really trying to get at is whether, on this forum, where most would assume, rightly or wrongly, that they are among the best in the tournament, that a fold would be the prevailing preflop action in this position......feck it...I'll do a poll.

This thread makes me cry. [/ QUOTE ] Agreed. If there are a bunch of all-ins before you, cant you assume that they are sharing their cards? AK KQ QA maybe 88-KK AA is more likely to hold then isn't it? I'll go run a simulation... |

The only real contention comes from low/mid PP.

Re: Vicky Coren and pocket AA in WSOP
Here is a narrow donkish view that illustrates why it could be a fold.
The first donk has QQ and goes all in. (has not read Harrington Vol I) The second donk has KK and goes all in. (read about Gus Hansen never laying down KK before the flop) The third donk is a 2+2er and makes the reluctant call with AA only so he can start another thread. Vicky looks at AA, 40% of the time she goes broke, 60% of the time she doubles up. She's not going to get all her money in on 60/40 in the beginning on one hand. Donk. |
Re: Vicky Coren and pocket AA in WSOP
AA is 67% on KK and QQ. This is also a situation where you would be getting odds as well, or am I wrong?
