\"Official\" Fulltiltpoker.net Championship Live at the Wynn

The broadcast has started, maybe it'd be best to start comments here.

Only 5 of the 6 players get paid.

Howard seems to be stumbling over his words a little bit. I haven't seen him announce before though so maybe he's always like that.

It's been a while since he's done commentating. They've got 4 hands in already, so they're playing really fast to start.

Re: \"Official\" Fulltiltpoker.net Championship Live at the Wynn

It was weird that they started out by saying Daniel would be bullying players with his chip lead and the bubble situation but he hasn't played a hand yet.

Re: \"Official\" Fulltiltpoker.net Championship Live at the Wynn

That is very strange, but Forrest has been doing a number on Gowen; bluffing her off one hand, and losing little another hand. Last year's live tournament had a lot more action at the start losing two people within the first 30 minutes. Seems the factor that 6th gets nothing is playing a factor in the tighter than expected play.

I couldn't believe neither Gowen nor Forrest ever bet that JT vs. J7 hand.

Re: \"Official\" Fulltiltpoker.net Championship Live at the Wynn

Quick question: I thought Daniel was affiliated with Poker Mountain (or some other small time poker site). Is he also on the Full Tilt team? Or is he in this tournament because of his association with the Wynn?

I don't know what the exact payout structure is, but forrest is absolutely abusing the bubble. I am VERY surprised to see Negreanu with the big stack, and staying quiet.

Re: \"Official\" Fulltiltpoker.net Championship Live at the Wynn

Vote for Danny V Howard. He's in the lead and it's the only way to NOT get Annie V Howard, which would obviously be boring.

He's no longer with Poker Mountain, there were a few people who weren't affiliated with FTP in the tournament (Hellmuth, Duke, Cloutier, Hansen)

Thanks I caught that.

WTF?!?!?!?! Why did Ted Forrest check his aces full there? (AA vs. AQ on 664A6 board)

Russ McGinley 07-13-2005 07:09 PM

Re: \"Official\" Fulltiltpoker.net Championship Live at the Wynn

Wow that is a crazy check. Ted fears that Daniel has the case 6? Yikes.

I'm not too excited about Howard's explanation either. Why not bet SOMETHING in case he has the case ace? Did Daniel's reaction really look like the reaction you get when you river quads?

No kidding. I can't think of any hand containing a 6 that calls D'Agostino's preflop all-in (which was pretty large compared to the blinds). Forrest has to know his boat is good.

Roswell 07-13-2005 07:13 PM

Re: \"Official\" Fulltiltpoker.net Championship Live at the Wynn

How could Ted possibly check aces full there?? He should at least value bet small. The check looks like softplaying.

Why are the commentators giving Ted a pass?

Yes, that is one of the worst checks I have ever seen. There is no hand that contains a six that Danny calls with there after Ted ALREADY called all in.

Why Howard is saying it's a "reasonable check" is so far beyond me right now. Howard might want to tell us what hand that contains a six that Danny would have been calling with pre flop in that situation.

As Josh A. would say... "That's rediculous!!!!"

I don't know, but it's true what Howard said about Forrest's read. Daniel had to have either the case ace or the case six there to make his turn bet, due to D'agastino being all-in. Still, he should've figured it wouldn't be the 6.

I think this is right on the money - especially since Ted already flat called Dags's all-in before Daniel overcalled. To make matters worse, Ted CLEARLY wasn't paying attention to Daniel's table chatter right before Ted checked - Daniel essentially told Ted that he thinks they have the same hand (i.e. sixes full of aces) and that he shouldn't try bluffing all-in.

Ted blew it. Next case (kidding).

Hellmuth tantrum?

Did anyone catch what happened in the opening montage of play previous to air time?

It appeared that DN busted Hellmuth, who then threw his cards across the table at DN's stack as DN laughed gleefully and Hellmuth stomped off.

I think that's what I saw but I wasn't paying full attention at the time.

Anyone get a better take on that?

Russ McGinley 07-13-2005 07:22 PM

Re: Hellmuth tantrum?

That's what it looked like to me. Phil threw his cards at or near Daniel and at least one of them flew off the table. Daniel was in the 1 seat and the one card went between Daniel and the dealer.

When the poll was around 6,000 respondants, Danny was absolutely smoking her. But now she's sitting in the commentator booth advertising herself every 10 minutes so the gap is closing.

Is she even supposed to be there right now talking, or is this like a "guest that wouldn't leave" kinda thing?

Re: \"Official\" Fulltiltpoker.net Championship Live at the Wynn

Loved that hand where that Gowen chick checkraised her pocket 8's overpair to Gordon's AJo on the flop, and he bit like a tourist.

Good stuff.

Russ McGinley 07-13-2005 08:05 PM

Re: Hellmuth tantrum?

"Guest that won't leave" would be my guess, although I am loving the awesome banter between the two:

Howard: Blah blah blah

Annie: I agree totally!

Howard: Blah blah blah

Annie: You are SO right!

detroitplayer 07-13-2005 08:07 PM

Re: Hellmuth tantrum?

Also, it's clear that the only reason this vote is getting close is that Annie is on air pimping herself. At 6,000 respondants Danny was winning by like 20%... now at 11,000 he's only winning by 2%.

If she would have stayed off air he'd still be leading by approx 20%.

If there's prize money on the line with that heads up match I would be fuming that she's allowed to pimp herself on air all tourny long.

Technically, she's being pimped by her brother.
