Nominations for Best Comedy Movie of the last 30 years.

Ok, time for another poll. Comedies this time.

I've decided to limit it to movies from 1975 until today. I just don't think most OOTers know enough about Laurel & Hardy, Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin's work to make it worthwhile including older movies.

That being said, lets hear some nominations.

Well, obviously Blazing Saddles is going to win, so the whole thing is kind of pointless. But I suppose the race to 2nd could be interesting.

Ruthless People
Monty Python -- Grail and Life of Brian
Easy Money

Gotta add the orginal Bad News Bears too.

I tell you what they couldn't get away with any of the stuff they do in that movie today. Expecially some of the lines of the little blond kid.

Very well. I think it will be easier to weed out movies that aren't pure comedies than it is to decide what makes an action movie. If anyone sees any nominees which they feel shouldn't be considered primarily a comedy say so and I'll consider eliminating them from the poll.

Re: Nominations for Best Comedy Movie of the last 30 years.

I don't think the Incredibles is really a pure comedy.

I was hesitant to nominate the Big Lebowski since I wasn't sure it was a pure comedy, but really, if it's not a comedy, I don't think there's anything else it could be. I'll nominate it, too. I think I'll also nominate A Clockwork Orange, for the same reason.

Re: Nominations for Best Comedy Movie of the last 30 years.

48 Hours, while hilarious, is more action than comedy.

Trading Places, however...

I'll throw Pee Wee's Big Adventure in there.

IMO, the whole movie should have been made to be a comedy - not an action/dramatic movie with some funny scenes.
